Hey Everyone

Just need some advice and what to look out for. I've installed some rocker switches 24vdc for a project and they keep blowing after a period of time. Any chance you can point us in the right direction and what to look out for?

Thank you

When you say the switches “blow”, what’s happening? Do the just stop working? Stick open or closed? Actually “blow” with an audible sound?

As asked above, what is the load?
It might say it’s less than the 10A rating, but there are certain things that might have a larger start up current. Motors for example.

The load is c16 (Mains), a bit high but that's all we could we find and then we fused the transformer 2amps. The lights are for a light up board to notify people that they are in the building. Me and my work colleague have had a disagreement, he thinks it's the rocket switches and we need led lights but I think it's pulling too much current, that's resulting them to blow.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks guys

The c16 is the breaker rating, not the load. What is the rating of the lamps you are switching with the rocker switches?

It appears to be a 24v PSU, so either way they are exceeding the contact rating, it's just a case of by how much :)

Indeed. I think an upgrade of the switches is definitely in order!

Although the rear of the switch in the photograph appears to say 10A 125V / 2A 250V.
