Hi,

I have just tested a RFC and the CPC was broken (no continuity). Tested all the socket on that circuits and R1+R2 was OK but I could't open a socket to check, as it was hidden (burried) behind a door frame and it must be a double socket with only one of its switches staring at me. To reach it, the door frame had to be sawed and the wall dug - not viable. What should I do in this situation?

I still haven't checked Zs on sockets.

Cheers!

Checked CPC's continuity at the board and no continuity. Cross connected L&E and tested R1+R2 at the sockets.
You can't have got expected results for R1+R2 at the sockets in that case! Unless of course your expectation for R1+R2 was changed by the lack of an r2 continuous reading.

Hmmm, in that case not sure I'd want to cut the door lining ... unless I could be pretty sure that's where the fault was. Is it a standard size door lining (ie easily replaced)?

If you do need to cut it, cut it at an angle (ie not parallel to the floor), it's easier to get it to sit right when replaced if you do that.

I'd suggest trying to prove that's where the cpc break is before entertaining any cutting :). Try a wander lead check around both halves of the ring to prove that's where the break is.
