Just started my 2nd can of export then I'm telling the wife to drive me to the best kebab shop in the city, I have over 250+ takeaways within a 3 mile radius and this one is like the Savoy in comparison. The shop next door burnt down 9 months ago and this shop has only just opened for business again so I'm a happy chappy tonight.

BTW the op has logged off and not sent me an e-mail.

What a quality consumer unit...................NOT

I would send this exact photo to the agent and then see what they have to say, it is an electric shock hazzard......plain and simple!!!!

just wondering when it was installed. obviously pre 2008. and those missing blanks are a code 1 or even a danger notice, IMO. just wondering when the IET will create a code for proteus.

I do love a hobgoblin, my local budgens have one called rudolphs reward for a pound a bottle so i stocked up on them for crimbo, shame i've drunk most of them alreadyy though:8:

the worst part is I did exactly that before finding this forum and seeking advice, the letting agent just asked me for an acredited report or something so they could send it to the landlord. My guess there would be they want me to fork out for someone to diagnose he obvious before they work on it.

thanks so much everyone who has posted here, between all of you IVe got exactly what I jeed to confront the estate agent again bt this time with a bit of knowledge behind me so Im not playing the guessing game.

for the OP's benefit, there are 3 codes.

codeC3....... not up to current standards.

codeC2...... potential danger, fix asap.

codeC1 ( which is what we have given it )....... immediate danger, must be rectified immediately.

best you could do as an interim measure is to glue a piece of plastic over the hole.

Once again to all involved, thank you very much. I initially thought this was just a small problem but judging by the replies and what has been said I can see that this is far worse than it was. Could I ask one more question, one that isnt as urgent, what would be a reaosnable quote for an electrician to come out and give me it in official writing that this is a balls up of consumer unit? That way I have undeniable proof of the matter...because a photo isn't good enough apparently.

They would probably want to do a complete check of the system and test with instruments and issue a report fella, could be up to a couple of hundred, it depends who comes around and how desperate they are for work, thats just a guideline

if you could pm one of us your email account they could send you some sort of official looking recomendation just to add weight to your case. although that picture shows everything you need!
