Went to a job today to replace some wall and ceiling lights along with some switches and sockets.

I came across this cu which was just installed last Xmas. It was in a newly renovated downstairs bathroom. From what I understand, the spark also fitted the vanity unit after the cu install.

How can anyone possibly remove the cover without dismantling the entire vanity unit?

Is there a minimum space that should be left infront of the cu for access?

well he didn't think the job through and when he tried to fit the unit around the board probably realised he dropped one haha, However I bet he didn't have the heart to move it once he just put it on the wall.

Could it not be a case of the sparky being told what was going there. Just a case of this is where the db needs to be! And then afterwards the punter thinking ****, it's in the wrong place, what's the easiest/cheapest solution

It may be the spark didn't fit the vanity unit, although the labelling is poor, the stickers are on the lid and I see theres brown tape on the tails, not saying thats great, but plumbers don't normally carry brown tape and he has marked the rcds 1 and 2, I reckon a spark did it, and a builder or bathroom fitter put the unit around, just guessing obviously but its something to consider and passes the time.

Might be the latest 'all in one' amenity pack from one of the sheds.
