Hi guys,
i was wondering if i can control 3 or 2 lighting circuits in 1g switch and control them separately.
any ideas if it is possible?
any advice is appreciated.
thanks

There was a Crabtree switch that was part of their 'Classic' range which had a split lever in a single switch module. You could buy just the split switch itself and replace a standard single lever switch to allow two light circuits to be switched from a single gang switch.

Switching 3 separate circuits is going to be a tall order and I don't have any suggestions on how you might do that.

Although it might sound non-doable i could make a 3 gang switch control 3 circuits separately if only 1 feed and switch-wire was available .... it little more advanced for your average domestic sparks but it can be done in a few ways ;) .... see if you can figure my method out knowing im into building control panels might be a clue and how a conventional fire alarm panel detects a smoke has activated or a cable has be cut all on a 2 core cable.

I can also do exactly what the OP asked but it would be a spring loaded switch needed not a stay put switch which all domestic types usually are.... again it wouldn't be cheap but as the OP says he has a feed and 3 switch i too am clueless to what the hell hes on about .... i learnt this in middle school on a battery circuit board how switch arrangements can control lamps ....

Edit.... another option is to forget the wiring at the switch altogether and fit a wireless switch controller that signals remote relays to energise the circuits - there are systems out there already.

Can tell its friday night again..... if your right Tel and does sound plausible after reading again and his responses but seriously his profile says hes an Electrician and i cant even belief of any electrician who doesn't know that 1,2 and 3 gang switches are common on a single back box... seriously something wrong here, he's either not an electrician but a DIYer (poorly educated one) or i really dread to think what his competence level is. Sorry OP if it offends but you seriously don't write that level of question if your qualified.... if of course Tel is correct in what he suggests.

I would be looking at an ELV control circuit to the switch, add a few resistors and 3 current sensing relays and robert's your fathers brother. Still, like you said, not a cheap way of doing things compared to pulling in a couple of extra cables lol. How would you do it out of interest?

I did consider this but ended up going with this one. I wired it inline with the lives and works great.
