Hi All

I've recently been doing a kitchen re-wire, everything done, sockets added to ring etc. however for the cooker ive wired a 6mm radial to a cooker switch, then 6mm down to a single socket. As cooker is 2.7kw this is acceptable on a 13a plug top....is this correct?
However now the customer has decided to tell me they're getting a separate electric hob, (this is after 2nd fix) and walls plastered. The info I have on the hob requires a 4mm cable supported by a minimum 32a fuse as the hob is 6500w. How can I do this??

Any help appreciated.

doing kitchen upgrade oven was already wired in 10mm all ok new oven and micro oven wired off switch giving me 6100watt with out diversty problem being oven and micro oven pre wired in 1.5 flex. flex cannot be replaced will this be compliant on a 32amp mcb as it was wired when i came to fit two seprate loads from one cooker switch one to micro oven one to main oven would this be ok as it would only be pulling load of the micro oven through that flex and not pulling the load off oven not pulinng the load off both through flex if both on. flex lenght less than three meters. will be nite mare to run new circuit for micro oven i know two oven meant to be on two switches everything plastered and painted.

casn you fit 2 x 13A FCUs for the 2 flexed appliances?

was thinking about that but but one oven is 3500 watt which would give over 13 amp and micro oven states that 15 amp supply required trying to make best out off bad situation may go with 13amp fcus but dont want them to blow behind cookers once in place i dont know why the manufacturers dont up rate the flex to suit power demand because it pretty much on the limit was going to just up rate the flex as this cant be done may have to fit fcu or lower the mcb to 20 amps which could cause to trip even after diversty is applied but this mite be better than fuses blowing behind aplliances

3500w is 15.21A @230V, or 14.58A @ 240V. either way, a 13A fuse should not blow at this load, and that's without applying any diversity, or allowing for the manufacturers claims of wattage may be optimistic.

What do the manufacturers installation instructions say?

manufacturers instructions state that each oven needs a supply of its own at 15amps or above but as this is allready wired in and didnt know about oven specifications they want me to connect both just looking for a solution to this problem that doesnt require putting a new feed in ,you can have a hob and oven of same switch but two ovens of similar wattage in same wall unit meant to be on different switches apparently kind of like double oven one oven on top of the other running another feed not really practical.

if you have a 6mm feed on a 32A breaker, then fit each with a 20A D/P switch. they are classed as fixed loads, so the 32A will provide short circuit protection. overload is considered to be unlikely on a fixed load. 433.3.1 (ii)

you would only fuse it down if the manufacturers instructions specified a OCPD < 32A, and if they did, i'd query it. if they want to protect the equipment rather than the cable suppluing it, then they should fit their own OCPD.
