That's how my living room is looking at moment changing van on Friday , so all my gear in house till then , sod kittens shel have panthers when she gets home in 12min , god help me !

thing is..what happens when you sling it all...
you just know that phone will ring with someone needing something doing..then when you get there it`l be `oh well i had one of them just last week`...
no, cant throw owt me..
i`v still got old test gear thats no use to anyone...but i cant bear to part with it...
its comforting to have familiar things around you....and everyone needs to feel wanted...

Nail on the head Glen .. Nail on the head.

I remember I once had a coarse-pitch left-handed thrupple nut - that's the one that has a thread on the inside and it continues on the outside, so when you screw the bolt in it comes back to you on the outside of the nut. I kept it on my mantelpiece and Wor Lass ( as was ) was always complaining about it cos every time she dusted the mantelpiece (usually every Christmas) the clumsy bitch knocked it off and it cracked the tiles on the hearth, so I reluctantly hoyed it oot.

Would you believe the very next week a bloke who made film projectors for showing continuous films came knocking at the door wanting to buy it!

give her a crash course on threadcutting...then set her to...

place i used to work at used to do it on some stanleys they had..

then there were some ward 7s set up with roller boxes & die boxes..
they had some emi-mecs as well..

I sometimes used to set capstans, but NEVER operated them - I have completely the wrong temperament for repetition work and wouldn't last more than half an hour on a capstan.

Centre lathes were my thing, and the one I used was one that the boss took me to choose for myself so I got it with all the toys - rapid threading attachment, hydraulic copier, six way stop bar on the saddle quick-change tool holders and a full set of Sandvik T-max tooling + various bits & pieces. That little lot cost him close on £10k which was a lot of money back then, but I produced some good work for him with it and it paid for itself.

you would if you were at my house...
breakers n dis-boards, cable and sleaving, screws and bits in every corner and loaded on top of 2 tables...
been like it for months but you daren`t throw owt away...

Glenn have you got one of the old square D MCB's?

Ermmm I'll just have a look for you, I have one somewhere...

My kitchen looks a bit like that (shed is currently stacked with wood for the new garage framework) as is the top of the stair and the understair cupboard...to be fair though the back room is full to bursting with 'er art supplies as is the bottom of the stair about 1/6 of the living room (big living room)

well in an argument over space you can (quite rightly) point out that art has nowt to do with bringing in the bacon and that artists die poor...
so you win...
