Evening all...

I've just bought myself a Renault Trafic SWB and am very excitedly looking at racking options!!

I dont want to go crazy with sortimo or some other very expensive option and was looking at this set up:

[ElectriciansForums.net] What do you think of this van racking?

Anyone got anything similar or any suggestions before I put it in?

Cheers chaps...

it comes down to what works for you really. best bet is to get a look at a few styles in situ in real life if you can. help you make a more informed decision. personally I have metal racking in my van. have always used it and works great for me.

LOL, I'm in the same position having just ordered a transit which will take 16 weeks I've spent the last few days looking at racking.
ive never had steel, always knocked up something out of MDF but having looked these last few days think I'm going to go steel with lockable draws etc.
Have a butchers on eBay as you can get some bargains on used but not abused stuff.
Bri-stor, Sortimo, Tevo etc

The trouble with steel shelves is the weight they add to the payload.

Don't forget most insurance policies for vans require you to notify them if you install it... otherwise they could refuse to payout.

Well maybe i was a tad misguiding there depending on its use and what you have in van stock it can increase your insurance but overall if its just nuts bolts screws etc and cheap spares then it can reduce insurance by normally 5% as its counted as less likely an insurance claim to be made if you equipment is suitably contained... obviously if you have expensive spares you would have to submit this to insurers and they will decide if they can insure them in the van 24/7 (subject to personal circumstances)

with insurance you need to be careful,I've heard of people having a claim knocked back because they fitted alloy wheels and didn't inform the insurance. It may seem petty but given a big claim they'll do anything to avoid paying out.Another common but little known trick they use involves policies for people who have been done for drink driving, they put a clause in so that in the event of an accident if you have consumed any alcohol whatsoever they will not pay out, even though you are below the drink drive limit.e.g the limit is 35 and you blow 10 now although you are well below the limit they say you have alcohol in your system and so don't pay out.insurance is a minefield, always cover your rear and keep a copy of anything you tell them,a bloke once hit the side of my car and tried to claim off me,my insurance were going to accept his version of events and decided they weren't paying out as I had an undisclosed 3 points on my license.fortunately I was able to prove that I HAD notified them about the points and also that it was his fault not mine.

We have the autorack steel shelves in our vivaros, just one over the wheel arch, holds all the bits and bobs we need to be fair and they're lighter than the mdf ones we've had previously.

Sortimo racking. But more expensive but very sturdy and good
