I know this subject has been done to death and I have my opinion on it but today in a domestic property new build only 3 years old. Meter tails behind plaster no protection with even capping just clipped direct. Dual rcd board in the house. Tails 8 meters long switch fuse outside in Meter box. What would you protect the Tails with?

Yep the real world is a bugger. Unless I find a c1 when doing any work you can only advise the customer but always make sure they sign the invoice with advice stated on it;)
well even with a 1 its still a case of ask permission first before carrying out any actions..isn`t it Bes....

this is why when all else doesn`t get through to them..theres always the danger notice as a last resort....then no-one can say `well, you were the last competant person in there...what happened`...if it went to court...

That's exactly what I mean if I find a c1 when doing any installation work id tell customer if they won't have this rectified I will stop and make safe what I'm doing and issue a danger notice done it before will do it again. But as you know a property could be full of c1's and unless your carring out a eicr its sometimes only luck you find them.
In this case you could argue that the tails behind plaster board is a c1 but id c2 and advise others may not agree but I wouldn't issue a danger notice in this case.

Magic?! Or failing that can you not just bypass the tails using radio waves from the cut-out to the CU ;)

Discovered during eicr. But the lunatic must remain nameless im afraid. To list the problems on a 3 year installation. ..
1. The Tails behind plaster.
2. No isolation to bathroom or toilet fans.
3. High cpc continuity to ring main.
4. No earth continuity to downstairs lighting.
5. No AC isolator to solar. No DC isolator. Insufficient fixing to inverter . String cables not identified or supported. No rcd protection to flushed in wiring on a couple of circuits. Con unit lid glued on because it had been smashed. Apart from that great installation.

And yes that is an mdf window board holding the inverter by 2 one and a half inch 8's

The coding isn't an issue the issue is the install is 3 years old. If I'd payed for this job in 3 years time I wouldn't be expecting a shopping list of remidials[/QUOTE]
As said had somthing similar found puting in external skt. Recomended eicr and then complain in writing to whoever purchased property from as fairly new build.
Never heard from them again ?

In my opinion replacing the consumer unit and waiting to see which RCBO trips is not a good fault finding technique. If the lighting circuit...
