Hi guys,

I have been called and asked to do some electrics for an old customer. Basically they have bought a 3 story town house (I haven't seen or been there yet) but they have advised they want to install 4 bedrooms all with electric showers in them and an electric hob oven unit. Im thinking of overload issues and im assuming that its a singe phase supply with 100amp main fuse. Are there any regs that cover this problem that I need to address.... I done a job once before in a flat and installed a relay that switched it off of the shower was ever turned on.... any advise/issues to note would be greatly appreciated

Anyway after I did some calcs I turned out it needed 3phase.

can I ask what the costs were to have this completed?

No idea. It was when I was employed. What I do know is they had to sort it out with electricity north west. If I were to guess I rekon it would have been around 3.5k. Its ridiculous how much they charge, I remember my aunt got charged £1700 by national grid just to move a gas meter 2.5 feet. Its a joke.

I was on a job with Paul M a few months back on a farm where the guy had had a house built. He needed a 3p supply for the house and his barns for a grain dryer he had in there.
He dug, lined and backfilled the trench and for about 150 metres of cable a tranny and the poles he shelled out £50k
