Overloading

Hi guys,

I have been called and asked to do some electrics for an old customer. Basically they have bought a 3 story town house (I haven't seen or been there yet) but they have advised they want to install 4 bedrooms all with electric showers in them and an electric hob oven unit. Im thinking of overload issues and im assuming that its a singe phase supply with 100amp main fuse. Are there any regs that cover this problem that I need to address.... I done a job once before in a flat and installed a relay that switched it off of the shower was ever turned on.... any advise/issues to note would be greatly appreciated

You may want to remind the customer that the level of water pressure within the dwelling will impact on simultaneous usage - far easier to have a combi boiler fitted enabling hot/cold mains pressure, then you may be able to run 2 showers, maybe even 3 at a push - running multiple electrical showers in a domestic dwelling is a bad idea for a number of reasons.

The Combi is the best option here but a decent sized one like 37 kilowatt or more - NOT a Mickey Mouse 24K

I'm trying to cut down on it so yes - a couple of pills have been missed. If I take them all the time they sort of lose their effect so when i REALLY need them they don't work so well.

BUT getting back into forum land is it really beyond the wit of this poster to be able to at least attempt to work out the loading on this thing - even if his answer is wrong??

Yes, the only drawback I can see with combi over electric is - where the f**k will you find a feed for the extractor fan??

I did a similar job a few yes ago which the house was converted into 5 flats all of which had no gas supply as landlord wanted all electric is heaters oven hob showers and water heaters for kitchenettes etc.
Anyway after I did some calcs I turned out it needed 3phase.

No giraffes in here mate maybe the odd clown lol
