Hi all,

Bit of a silly question but one I've never really encountered before.

A customer of ours want an 8kWp PV system, I sent the application off to the DNO but they have come back saying we can only install 4kWp. I believe I read somewhere before that a device can be installed that limits export? The customer has a number of energy hungry appliances so I know exporting >4kW wont be a problem but I know this isn't enough to satisfy the DNO's requirements.

Any suggestions would be fantastic.

Thanks,

Donk

Hi, To my knowledge you'll need to install Coolpower EMMA with Export Control. Although I have heard of exceptions, this is the only device I've come across which DNOs accept. Usually energy diverted to an immersion heater (or 2 in your case). EMMA takes care of voltage and export limit issues for you.

Check Coolpower Products website for info or to speak to a local installer - preferably one who's installed one for export limit reasons previously, if you can.

The EMMA system is good, and has been around a while, but it's quite expensive and not the only way to skin this particular cat. Depending on budget and level of sophistication required, there are a number of ways this can be done. Drop me a PM with your email addy Donk and I'll send you some info.

i'd be asking what's he growing in his attic.
