    Thanks guys. 10w should be sufficient for garage, but will consider 30w for garden. Halogen lights are a lot cheaper, is the extra cost of the LED justified, or are halogens fine?

    Identify this wire from 1960 semi-detached house

    None of that made sense. Can you explain it in lay perspective? I can get better pictures later...today is the day of completion. The photo was taken yesterday when we went to do a final inspection of property. Prior to this, large wardrobes covered this 'thing' so we did not know it was there.
