    Hi, I have a mft 1720, the equipment itself is brilliant but every so often when I test earth loop impedance the rcd trips before it gets a zs value. On the same system I tried a older mft and got a zs reading straight away. Any suggestions

    I looked at the schneider rcbo earlier and manufacturers guide in a bold statement says not to be used on tt or tns ,I looked at wylex proteus lewdon and m2 and none of them state they can't used on a tt wholesellers I go in did not have 1 sp+n rcbos

    Will have to take rcbos out and install a 17th d/b and just take it as a lesson learned

    So why are they total crap. I will just admit my mistake what every one seems to no everything about and change the rcbos for dp rcbos .I don't think I'm a no it all one bit just because I thought I was right in what I was saying but I was wrong admittedly I can see how that makes me a no it all .

    Explain then, I fitted proteus sp rcbo 30mA, I always thought that rcbos are the best protection to have in domestic due to it being less disruptive to other circuits if a fault occured. I'm sure your gonna have a lot to say about this

    So a 16 th edition c/u is perfectly safe then on a tt earth arrangement ??? What about the earth fault loop impedance being to high to provide the correct disconnection on the circuits not protected by a 30mA rcd ??

    Thanks for most of the replys it ended up being a squished cable in the loft from a walk board on to and the c/u was not up to date to the 17 th edition 7671 so replaced with rcbos.tested dead and live test all performed and passed and certified and logged on to building control .so there...
