Do you know what's crazy? Ive been in the game for 7 years and it was the first one. I only ever helped on rewires or come onto it part way through.
Think first fix near the end or just putting sockets on second fix or helping testing. I never did a full one and wanted to so I could test myself...
Hey all. How is everyone's rainy Sunday afternoon?
I thought I'd pop by and let you all know that as of yesterday I completed my first rewire of a 4 bed property. It took just over 2 weeks to complete. The property was lived in and involved moving a lot of furniture to other rooms, covering...
I remember when I first did a 3 phase board and I was absolutely cacking it!
Seemed to take me forever to mount the bleedin thing never mind connect the circuits up :)
As others have said, take your time and pay attention to what your doing. I'm sure you will do a fantastic job. Good luck.
Thanks for all the replies guys! Appreciate it. Yes Sedgy34 you have a point but the customer is moving the furniture for me and asks if I need any help. I am very careful around his stuff and most things have been covered anyway.
I even got a lift pulling in the 3 core for the landing 2 way so...
Yeah I see what you mean. Although the smallest room has now been cleared to make way for routes. It's actually the biggest bderoom thats being used as storage but I'm not looking forward to trying to get cables into there as theres a king size bed with built in wardrobes to contend with.
Still...
Thanks mate for the vote of confidence. Yeah it is hard isn't it. Oh, forgot to mention the interior walls are eggcrate and the existing single sockets are being turned into twins and the backboxes have been cemented in.
It's a right mess. Switch boxes all cemented in too. As I said it's...
Hey all. Well, to be honest I'm just having a bit of a whinge really but we all do from time to time. So, started a rewire yesterday on a 4 bed house and it's actually the first I've done on my jack.
It's good experience like and all the decisions I make are obviously my own. Nobody to blame...
Nice one Vernam616. At least your fighting my corner. Was beginning to think I was on my own and I'd really dropped a you know what.
Yeah, maybe a bit the Green eye going on here. We should all help each other out, not have a fissy hit because I don't have one thing. They can put their handbags...
Indeed I have made an error where you asked if I was qualified. Now you have clarification. Again, I am not an idiot and I understand those that have took the time, effort and of course finance to attain Part P may get a tad upset at my request.
I could understand if I was encroaching on ones...
Piratebillybob, I am fully qualified. At what point did I say that I wasn't? You (and probably others) have assumed.
Now, yes I agree that Part P sparks may get a bit annoyed but at the end of the day it goes back to an old saying "If I don't do it someone else will".
You think I'm the only...
I work full time for a company and I do private jobs in my spare time. We all need extra money and I'm saving to buy my own house. If I get approached to do a job then I'm going to take it.
The question was simply asking for help on a quote as I haven't done a job to that scale before (working...
Perhaps so but am I supposed to say "It's ok mate I won't do it get Mr Company spark to do it?"
I respect there are rules and regulations but if it's getting certified what's the issue?
Please explain.
Hey all. Hope everyone is well.
As the title suggests I am in a bit of a pickle on how to go about this. Basically, A guy who I did some work for in the past has approached me as he has bought a new house and wants it rewiring.
Done rewires before for company but not private. This would be a...
