    hi, thanks for the quick replies guys. I would be lead to belive it is 400v only as stated on he plate, I have advised the friend to open the unit to check, as this is also my knowledge of these machines

    have to say, ive been doing mine with xs training, and once you get your head round the online system. its incredibly easy to use. and thier help throughout it has been ace. obviously this is the only company ive delbt with. but they have given me a great service so far.

    i got one free as an "incetive"at an old firm. and didnt realy use it. must admit ive allways used the incoming supply as a means of proving my tester. although after looking at what my little kewtech unit would have cost. cant belive the prices?

    in that case my solution would be to do what had first had crossed my mind (although after reading the regs and interpriting them incorectly) i would fill with pea shingle and cap with concrete to keep the cosmetic appeal of the driveway aswell as allowing for moisture to saturate the earth rod...

    wel my theory is that pea shingle would allow voids within the plastic outer casing of the earth rod ispection pit to be compromised. as concrete is self leveling and would push all air to the surface when compacted and leveled out. in turn the only moisture would be able to get in through the...

    in this situation i would have to do like for like, and drop some cement around the surrounding edge. would blend it in with the rest of the surface. also the regs state that the earth electordes, should be protected against soil drying and freezing. im sure that a concrete shield would help...

    have to agree with the above. ive allways, used banjo rings regardless. as a precaution. be sure to sand/file back the paint on the boxes aswell. for a good connection.
