    Alarm / coax....yeah if its good enough for NTL :) then crack on! One could argue it would be practical to put in a drip loop if being fussy.

    If drilling through for external lights / adaptable box / etc I will put a piece of 20mm plastic conduit through the cavity also. Did exactly this yesterday in fact :)

    To be honest Momin, if it was MY daughter....and the neighbour refused to name the person who could have killed her... I would start a war. edit...Perhaps talk to neighbour again and ask directly, pointing out that a life was nearly taken and whomever undertook the work needs to be checked out...

    Indeed I can't see why not too, cheers. To drill new ones to satisfy regs would be cutting off nose to spite face :)

    The regs on where you can and cant drill holes in joists are quite clear, but what about if rewiring for a material change of use where new regs must apply? Would it be okay to rewire through holes which no longer comply? The holes in question are closer than 0.25 of the span to the wall.....but...

    I need to install a cu which is over 3m from a new PME supply. Have searched but can't seem to find any 'best practice' advise on what cable to use etc. The cu is 5 meters away. Whats best method?? Is there detailed info on this situation anywhere? Thanks, Myles
