When I did my course and blokes I've worked with before have always used Flukes. Bought the Metrel as it was meant to be easier to use and to be fair it probably is once you work out what it all means as the instructions are nothing short of rubbish.
Been testing a few different circuit with it...
Didn't ring them in the end, had someone look at the basic instructions you get with it and they were able to point me in the right direction.
Still not convinced yet, still tempted by a Fluke!
Firstly apologises if these are stupid questions but it's doing my head in!
It's the first time I've really used this tester as I've always used Flukes before, both during my course and with other people I've worked with. The instructions with it, to me at least, seem to make no sense at all...

Are NAPIT the best ones to give with then? Have to be honest, I'd not heard of them until coming on here!

Well put! I was in the bank the other day paying off a few bills, got talking to the cashier who was trying to offer me a loan at the time. Asked how that was possible if there was such a massive credit crunch and his response was, if people asked their local banks rather than national tabloids...
When I was doing my course one idiot there asked the instructor if he could touch a live busbar. Instructor pointed out to him that if he'd been listening and reading the books he'd already know the answer. Bloke decided that because the unit had an rcd in it it would be fine and promptly ended...
Stumbled across the site looking for a few answers and it seemed an interesting place so I've joined up!
Bit about me. I completed an EAL Domestic Installer course including my c&g2381 16th edition and c&g2377 PAT testing last year. I'm currently working towards my 17th edition and getting my...
