    Chint Consumer Units

I'm pretty certain that Chint and MCG are thrown out of the same factory. I've spent the last two years stripping plastic Chint DB's out of installations that were being done by a cowboy spending the least and working the least. I know that sounds like a good business model, but you have to...

    Reccommendation for work trousers

Snickers for trousers and shorts. Yes, they are the most expensive, but their range of sizes means there's a comfortable fit for everyone, and that's worth paying for. They are also seriously tough and well made. I'm not a fan of their tops, but for your legs, treat yourself.

Anyone done work for LOM Maintenance?

Hilarious! They told me they'd tell me when that was going to be aired, but never mind. I hope any of you who are still waiting for money from these guys feels a little happier knowing a small guy struck back.

How long does it take you to do a Domestic rewire?

Things like that should've flagged at initial verification on IR between R1 & R2, and that's why I work on my own and why I would never sign off anyone else's work. It's a common practice, I believe, to put tape over the heads of backbox screws. I use countersink pozi's myself, which negates the...

How long does it take you to do a Domestic rewire?

I was speaking to a spark at my local gun club the other day, works for an outfit that rewires houses and flats for the council. They have ONE day. Usually 6 blokes on it and they're well rehearsed in ripping out and chucking the new stuff in. He reckons the job's done right too. Apparent...

    Bs7909 ??

Thanks Rockingit, I've been helping an AV client work through compliance. I 'think' i've helped them understand what they need to be doing, but I fear they may have just grabbed hold of this bits they wanted to hear and disregarded the rest. Ah well, horses to water and all that.

How long does it take you to do a Domestic rewire?

I work on my own and allow at least 10 days for a basic rewire of an emptied house, just for my two pennies. I've been off the forum for a while, been busy in show land, so I've popped my head in the door to find handbags at dawn. You can tell it's the quiet period.

Anyone done work for LOM Maintenance?

Well i'll be a dutchman's uncle, I have received a cheque for the work I did all those months ago. This is very odd, because i'm certain the email I had from their accounts person, Sue, a couple of months back, told me they were paying me in the next BACS run. I'm expecting the cheque to bounce...

Anyone done work for LOM Maintenance?

Well, yesterday was a good day. LOM called me for a call out, I agreed and waited for their confirmation email. Once I had the client contact number, I rang it, explained the situation with this outfit and put her on to the electrical safety register (I was unavailable at the time, she did offer...

Anyone done work for LOM Maintenance?

Thanks Tel, I appreciate the loan. I only have a rifle, and I really want to be able to look into their eyes as the life drains out of them.

Anyone done work for LOM Maintenance?

I'm wondering what would be the legal case if I retrieved the materials I installed on their behalf.

Anyone done work for LOM Maintenance?

Plural of ball! Have I just been had or what? I can't get any response from their accounts person "sue" by email nor can I get their accounts to answer the phone.

URGENT; building notice for major works(new circuit). Can I advise council late?

Yep, don't fret. If there's anything your assessor is uncertain about, they'll take you on and ask you to show that you've improved it. You sound like you're prepared, just double check you've got all the documentation they will ask for and brush up on you test/inspect skills.

    Iet

Yep, IET member here. If you need to demonstrate that you are keeping yourself informed and up to date, being a member ticks the box. They often have live webcasts when something interesting is being announced/discussed and the magazine makes for a good read too.

    Anyone using PayLeven

The sumup and izettle etc are no good if you want to take payments from Visa or Visa Debit cards, it's just unrealistic. The Payleven chip and pin device is a Bluetooth rechargeable thingy that you just hand to the customer to do their thing with. I've used it loads of times now, and it just...
