I Need Work newly qualified sparky :)

The course does include 9 practical weeks on-site at their training facilities. Was fun doing installs of circuits and then testing them afterward. Took a few goes to get the hang of SWA cables connected.

I Need Work newly qualified sparky :)

I've tinkered a bit on the house, but that's as far as my experience goes. Electrician's mate was my thinking too. Not sure if I should go door-knocking at the local sparkies. Will be keeping my eyes on the job scene too.

Distance learning. Course has 3 year duration, cost me enough! Taken me a little over 2 years to get through it. Level 2 - domestic Level 3 - commercial and industrial :)

I Need Work newly qualified sparky :)

Hello. I'm near the end of level 3 Domestic Electrical Installer. All modules done, only 3 practical weeks to go, yay! BS7671 17th under my belt, 2392 inspection, testing and verification, along with other certificates. I'm 44*cough* years old, born and bred in New Zealand, with not much...

Lifestyle Changes, has anyone made any.

I moved halfway around the world...would that qualify? I left New Zealand to live in England. Some have called me daft for doing it! :D

Fused connection unit mounted on metal backbox

Heidi hi :) Ok, so I’ve bought the maintenance free junction box (rather nice bit of kit too). I’ve had a look at BS7671 app 15 regarding rings and radials. After inspection and identifying the cables underfloor, I have this scenario: An existing spur has been taken from a double socket outlet...

Fused connection unit mounted on metal backbox

Ashley J803 Maintenance Free Junction Box 32A 3 Terminal - https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/ASJ803.html Probably going to go with one of these for underfloor. Even though access is easy, according to the regs, it “isn’t”. So better safe than sorry! Thank you all for the replies! Opened my...

Fused connection unit mounted on metal backbox

I guess it’s down to the individual’s preference :) As long as I can get to it with little effort then it’s fine. But yes, there is the need of future notification of the “how to get to it” which must be addressed. In an ideal world there’d be a detailed map of each electrical installation, but...

Fused connection unit mounted on metal backbox

It is accessible. Lift back a corner of the carpet, remove a few small precut sections of floorboards...can get to It in less than 30 seconds. As long as there is access to it, I don’t see the problem

Fused connection unit mounted on metal backbox

As there isn’t much room for both cables to go through the one hole, and putting a rubber grommet in there for both is a right pain in the proverbial, so I decided that one cable in each would easier :) Telectrix, apologies for my not being very clear, I wasn’t quite awake when I typed it...

Fused connection unit mounted on metal backbox

greetings :) I’m taking a spur from a ring final. A fused connection unit will be controlling the spur. FCU will be mounted on a metal backbox flush in a brick wall. I’m planning on using a junction box to break into the RFC, and taking the spur cable to the FCU. My question is, do both cables...

Earth fault loop impedance - textbook values vs BS7671

Ok, issue sorted. According to the tutors, the answers in textbook are prior to amendment 3 and even though the version textbook was printed”after” amendment 3, somehow it didn’t get updated too. So after applying Cmin factor 0.95, it brought the answers down to where they should be!
