Hi J.C.E,
You are not right about listing only applying to the outside. Working on a listed building without appropriate concent carries a maximum 10 year prison sentence and / or an unlimited fine. A mate of mine was fined £1000 for refusing entry to a council official who came to inspect a...
Hi Jackhamer, not sure what you mean by conversion.
Its a 3c&e from first floor sw to ground floor sw. The 2c&e L & Sw L are from the ceiling rose to first floor sw.
Thanks Midwest It would be a bit bodge I suppose.
It is a new build timber frame. It has a 50mm service void on the external walls where the cable drops at ground floor, then along a flat roof joist up the wall at first floor to the loft across the landing and down to the switch. I'm a bit ocd...
Afternoon,
I've just been to a new build finishing off some lighting and found a fault in the 3c&e between the landing and hallway. No continuity on 1 core.
It's going to cause a lot of damage to replace the cable. The other 2 cores & CPC are good, IR tests fine.
Is there anything out there...

Hi Tiny Spark,
If your lucky you never will see them!!
I had a go at that but it just puts power to the switched side so they stay lit.
I think there might be a faulty fitting. Even though we don't require the switched function all the EM fittings have 3c&e. Everything is wired in at the...
Hi Dillb
There are, black labeled un-switched, which is connected and Brown labeled switched. I did try just connecting to Brown but the fitting was dead.
You defiantly didn't have the fittings lit whilst they charged? Did sound like a just clear the call answer to me!
Good Evening,
Has anyone had any dealings with the above?
We have 4 in a corridor on 1 lighting circuit.
The fittings are supplied as a maintained fitting but have a recommendation to only switch occasionally. I have wired as non maintained, there double insulated fittings so just a L&N at...
