Afternoon,

I've just been to a new build finishing off some lighting and found a fault in the 3c&e between the landing and hallway. No continuity on 1 core.

It's going to cause a lot of damage to replace the cable. The other 2 cores & CPC are good, IR tests fine.

Is there anything out there wireless, everything I have seen looks to still need the 3 cores between switches.

Suggestions welcome!!

Scolmore do a wireless switch (https://www.scolmore.com/_pdfs/click-smart.pdf). Least I've seen them every time I walk in & out of my wholesaler. I'm sure there's others. Personally I think the fault should be rectified, being a new property and all that.
It's under warranty then get it sorted properly, no good throwing half arsed repairs to solve the problem, it need doing properly and paid for by the NHBC or whatever they're called these days.

That's the gamble you take mate haha
Those Gallagher Brothers both of em, are another Pet Hate of mine, wrong thread I know, but as I'm in the mood for peeing people who don't deserve it, might as well add that to my messed up Friday rant, and it was all going so well.

Sounds as if the property hasn't even started it's warranty period yet, i.e. not been handed over to a customer. The fault should be found or cable replaced. You might have a nail or screw in the cable?

Thanks Midwest It would be a bit bodge I suppose.

It is a new build timber frame. It has a 50mm service void on the external walls where the cable drops at ground floor, then along a flat roof joist up the wall at first floor to the loft across the landing and down to the switch. I'm a bit ocd about being clear of the tackers screws, maybe there using 4 inch drywall.s

Looks like the hole saws are coming out Monday, better get some filler!
