Hi all
I am looking to get registered in the new year. Just going over the checklist sent by elecsa and it refers to a selection of building regulation parts. I have downloaded them and highlighted the cross over areas with electrical work. Only thing is I printed them in black and white...
I am currently helping a friend rewire a house. He is having a new bathroom put in and so I looking to install his lights and fan. I am happy to install the equipment but he has asked that the 3 pole isolator and the 3amp fcu for the circuits/fan are installed under the stairs next to the...
I am happy with calculating current carrying capacity for straight runs of cable. I am not to sure how the imact of a ring effects the cable calcs? Its hard to see what the possible loads might be. As of this do you take the center point and use maximum demand?
So for example on a 35 meter ring...
Quick question.
I know junction boxes need to be accessable i.e. in a confined loft space you may need to add a hatch to the jb for inspection.
My question is where an earth is bonded to service/steelwork does it also need to be accessable/visible? I have a gas pipe going to a meter which is...
Hi I am after a bit of advice. In my day job I look after new industrial electric installations so domestic isn't my forte. A mate is after some help wiring his house which he is renovating. It was last rewired in the early 90's so has the old cable colours.
Question 1: The old CU has breakers...
Hi,
I have a quick query. My day job involves testing pre-fabricated buildings for several different industries. As of this the company has had me assessed by the NICEIC to become the QS for the company. I have my 17th edition, HND etc.
A friend is renovating an old house extending it out...
I moved into a bellway house 3 years ago. My cert was included with all the appliance manuals with boiler paperwork.
I have had no end of trouble with bellway. Customer service is rubbish.
I currently work for a large electrical company. Our qualified supervisor has recently left and I have been asked if I wish to take over. I have the NICEIC regional rep/examiner in soon to sort things out, which is fine. My question which is a bit hazy on the NICEIC docs is once I have...
I just got off the phone to the NECIEC. The guy said to initially register I need to at least complete my 17th edition in full. I can then register but I won't be approved until they have assessed one minor and one major job. As I have been shadowing for the last 4-5 years he was happy with...
Excellent thank you for the help.
I will ring them tomorrow, to enquire and register. My colleges next start date for 17th edition is in May which falls good with me (HND ends in May so wont be overloaded with work) and then hopefully on to test and inspection.
Cheers again :)
PS good luck...
Thanks for the reply. The world of electrical qualifications can be confusing. My local college offer the 2931 and 17th which is good. Where does this put me in terms of calling myself an electrician? Ultimately I would like to be fully 'competent' to fill in the NICEIC reports alone. Would...

I am looking for some advice on electrical qualifications. Heres my status. I am in the last few months of my electrical HND at college. I work in an electrical environment which requires me to test 230/415v equipment. I currently work alongside a trained electrician...
