Help with electrical installation certificate thanks

Hi, I've bought a brand new bellway house in may this year and I was having a look through my folder of paperwork and they have not provided the test certificates for the installation.they have gave me a home energy report! , when I called customer care I was told no home owner gets test sheets as they go to building control. If I want to take it further I have to put it in writing to there manager. As far as I'm conserened the home owner should have these for future testing etc to compare results. How do you think I should approach this without going mad at them. Anytime I've done an extension or new built the home owner gets the original copy of the test sheets

The Certs may have been issued to Bellway as they were the customer. However, you should receive a copy because building control don't want them if the work is notified by a scheme member and you should have received a copy of the building control completion cert. I suggest you call your local building control and ask them what records they have. Take it from there.

It's the principle of it that annoys me. They are sure they do not need to issue them for any of there new builds

I moved into a bellway house 3 years ago. My cert was included with all the appliance manuals with boiler paperwork.

I have had no end of trouble with bellway. Customer service is rubbish.

I agree you as the homeowner should get a copy of the certs but us as electricians have to issue the certs to the person who ordered the work ie Bellways.

Contact the sparkies that installed they might e-mail you a copy, I know I would and it should be easy to find out who performed the work.

You may find their contact details on the front of your consumer unit.

Lol the sparkys who did my new house must be lazy, they just ran all the cables over the joists, its a rats nest up there.

The electrician that wires the houses is in a old shagged van with no name on it etc. he works for himself and the sticker on the cu is a standard sticker you would buy from any wholesaler. I kinda wonder if he has done the certs but I suppose building control would need them … maybe he's got 1 set for each type of house he sends away lol

If this is how you feel I would demand a set or threaten to have it checked over because you are not happy with the lack of certification provided.

You could perhaps aproach NHBC for their advice "if these guys are still the ones that give the 10 year cert on houses"
