Sorry to hear about your troubles with ABB Bruce. We've tried before to get involved in the RMA loop, to help out ABB and clients by sending units from our own stock in lieu of ABB providing the service replacement - their process just doesn't allow this to happen. Mind you, in our experience...
If you guys are going to have to use metal/non-combustible enclosures for household CUs etc, will this impact on RCD decision-making?
Bruce - the Elios works like any other WiFi device, if the signal is compromised by being in a metal box then that would be a problem. If you fitted the Elios...
3-pole 32A lockable rotary AC isolator, din-mount (3-ways) in a Hensel garage CU (enough depth to close lid) or 2-pole MCB. 1-way backlit kWh meter, dual-pole RCBO (if need RCD and limited on DIN-rail space) CUs available in 4, 6, 9 or 12 ways. Options are many and varied, we stock all...
Thanks Ted, didn't realise they had actually come together and clarified that. So if a FiT application form also asks for a DNC value, it could just be left blank?
That's a soft input though isn't it Gavin? Resulting in an active but zero power state? Wouldn't an (electro)mechanical interlock be ideally required/preferred?
Well, there you go, it's somewhat ambiguous depending on what documents you are filling in....from a FiT application point of view, do you try to adhere to Ofgem's definition of DNC, but then what is the "plant" and how do you determine losses? I stand to be corrected but in the interests of...
Your colleague is most likely interpreting the definitions of TIC and DNC from Ofgem, where DNC is the total installed capacity of the plant minus the plant's losses. If you come at it from a wind turbine point of view, you can see that these definitions make sense as the "amount of wind...
Is there an external G59 relay fitted? If yes, could you wire an interlock signal from the genny (or CO switch) into the relay's contactor coil feed circuit? That's a common way of doing it
ABB PVI-3.6 is a no-brainer for a decent, mid-spec alternative but typically 5yrs warranty as standard. Nothing wrong with the Afore, would put it in the same camp as the GoodWe. No idea about the Sunplug....
Afore are a solid, no frills option from a Chinese manufacturer with a decent UK support office. Single or dual tracker with a wifi bolt-on (RS485 converter). 10yrs warranty as standard too. They also have a 1kW unit that has a 60vdc startup.
Some feedback from a contact of mine in the BRE:
We got an extremely good deal on the hardware, which meant that it made sense to go for a higher-than-normal power density on the roof and accept some shading at low sun angles.
What this effectively means is that during the summer, we capitalise...
