I used to always do it that way biff but after testing a lot of houses, it makes it a right B***ard to megger, you have to disturb the cpc of every circuit to remove the flylead. From now on I am putting all the cream coloured leads into a group and into one terminal of the earth bar as it makes...
Heres a debate for you, seeing as this place is as dead as a doornail today.
I have been testing a street of domestic properties recently, wired in 2008 with all rcbo's. In some properties the electrician has put all the white fly-leads into one terminal in the earth bar, In the others they...
No reason whatsoever, although if possible I always do it as well especially in domesatic, HOWEVER when it comes to commercial you may have to split it to ensure you don't go over Volt drop limits or EFLI limits, or just to avoid using £££'s worth of extra cable.
well sounds like it's your companies policy to ripp people off! IMO that sounds appalling, you should't follow that policy, just bs7671 send common sense!
I once read an article in professional electrician where they interviewed a sparks who wired a radial for EVERY appliance in the kitchen, he said he only ever used radials never rings, I'm sure profession electrician only put it in to wind up decent sparks!
anyways to OP, a single consumer unit...
I would look seriously at whether you need 2 boards, or whether you are just faffing about pulling in to many pointless circuits. I don't see why a 4 bed house would possibly need that many circuits?
On a TT system a 4mm earth is adequate, check your regs!. Does the rod have good readings still? I think the idea of a new 5/8th rod , in a nice placcy pit is a good one though
As long as cables are of the correct size to cope with being immersed in insulation then fine, on the point of clipping, some might argue that if you clip it to every joist, A- You can't use them as draw wires in future and B- they are more likely to be hit when plasterboarding. I woulde go with...
The old nissans like tells go on and on and on, I know a bloke with one with 300k on the clock, they are dead slow mind and rear wheel drive, when they do break parts are dear. My choice for eco van would be an old combo 1.3cdti, mine would get 45mpg with foot flat to floor all the time.
Sorry grumpy, it is a bank holiday Saturday and all! lol If you have got a 10mm skim of plaster, you could cut wide chases, borrow a nail gun and fix cables up in capping, even better metal capping, then get a friendly plaster (could also be a not so friendly plaster the choice is yours!) to...
Your dead right, all the flats I have been in have had conduit systems, embedded in pre-cast concrete slabs, not MICC, completely forgot that the OP was even on about MICC lol
