Dummy dimmer push to make momentary

Thanks but it looks like another on/off switch. I suppose I could reach out to Wandsworth or Varilight directly but I can’t see anything in their catalogues about a retractive version. Wandsworth make a dimmer module designed for use with retractive switches.

Dummy dimmer push to make momentary

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a dummy dimmer module to sit in place of a dimmer behind the switch plate, like the Varilight MH0, but rather than an on/off switch, it’s a momentary/push switch (push to make)? I know it’s an incredibly long shot but I’d be grateful if anyone has...

Getting hold of the DNO (ENWL)

Given that pigs already fly, I managed to find a second hand loop tester, not as handy as a multifunction but as I said this is only occasional work for me. So now let's see what ENWL come back to me with, before I'm back at the site in a week.

Getting hold of the DNO (ENWL)

Policemen in helicopters. R1+R2 with Ze from the dunno brigade will be adequate in this case, I'm only doing this on occasion for commercial properties as additional income so it's not a realistic investment right now but I do intend to make it so. The hardest part about this particular job so...

Getting hold of the DNO (ENWL)

I'm quite a kind soul, but I can't help thinking it might have been amusing to ask her for the Ze/Ipf/U0/f and whether it's TT/TN-S/PME/etc for MPANxxxxxxxxxxxxx please DNO. Just wait til the IET hears about about ENWL, the UK DNO that doesn't know their Rs from their MPAN. On a related note...

Getting hold of the DNO (ENWL)

Ooh, they called me back, after 7pm as well - not bad. The operator had no idea what I was talking about when I asked for the prospective short circuit current, so I said I just want the supply characteristics. Nah, didn't get that either. I had her write everything down and gave her the address...

Getting hold of the DNO (ENWL)

Any north west sparks have some kind of magic way to get Electricity North West (ENWL) to answer their phone? I'm trying to enquire as to the supply characteristics of a shop I'm testing, and spent all afternoon going through the same sequence of hold, hold, voicemail. In the end I left two...

    Apprentices

I'm in a similar boat - also 24 in Manchester actually - but no driving licence, which I'll need the work in order to afford. Hope it goes well for you and I'll probably be registering with JTL this week.

    Introduction

Hi, I've been a member for a while and made a couple of posts but I wanted to formally introduce myself. I'm not a qualified electrician yet but have experience in repairing electrical installations in commercial buildings and have dabbled here and there for a number of years, particularly since...

Oil/grease + PVC in commercial kitchen: should I be concerned?

Excellent points from all, thanks very much. I'm recommending PIR and PAT anyway, plus a risk assessment on hygiene and cleaning regimes, appliance flex replacements and new faceplates for any greasy accessories. I think the light is already IP rated but if not that's a very good point as you...

Oil/grease + PVC in commercial kitchen: should I be concerned?

Thanks and agreed hygiene should be improved. Cleaning live plastic-fronted accessories is not something I'd want them to do with soap and water though! I've had to clean and dry disconnected ones, fair enough, but I can't help feeling where not otherwise covered and thus exposed to airborne...

Oil/grease + PVC in commercial kitchen: should I be concerned?

Hi all. I just repaired some damage in a commercial kitchen which frankly I was shocked by. Not literally, of course... I may treat you to some of the "oh my god" pictures but more importantly, I noticed that everything in this kitchen tends to get covered in oil. They cook Italian food so...

    No earth core ..but sheath?

The building I'm maintaining was built in 1925 and the "original" wiring is certainly 1960s or older. Though it's a bit of a patchwork, the lights in the stairwell are bare MI runs (no PVC sheath, but everything is painted over). Demolishing it is actually quite hard. I've heard a sparky joke...

    Fungus (mold) on cable sheath

Oh yes, this is my first post. Be as kind as you wish ;-) I'm maintaining a building and found a white fungus on the outer sheath of tails within a metal enclosure and a 3-phase switchfuse. I'm wondering if it's something to be concerned about; I presume it's a result of humidity since the...
