    Complete solar roof

i spoke to Solarcentury a while back about this and was told that they no longer offer the system as they had problems with installations they had done but couldn't elaborate on what they were. i would be interested to find out whether anyone else offers anything similar, so long as it is...

Using a domestic EPC for a PV system connected to a communal supply only.

I thought it had to be carried out on the area supplied by the meter the PV was going into? We had a similar situation earlier this year and BG (i think) stipulated that it had to be done in the communal area. I hoped that an exemption would be accepted as there was no heating or air con in...

    Roof hooks for these tiles

They look like Bold Roll tiles, possibly Marley. I only know because we had to fit 4 panels on an extension using these. The rails were vertical so placement wasn't a problem. The Schletter standard pantile hooks were ok width wise for the valley. We did have to do a fair bit of grinding...

Why Folks Decide Not To Install A PV System

Conflicting information has been one that has caused a few potential customers to drop out recently, and the hassle from sales men via lead generation companies. 2 potential customers had been quoted for 4kW on a hipped roof, with panels on 3 sides using 1 Power One inverter - at a rock bottom...

Feed in tariffs for poor energy efficient homes

You will get 6.85p per kWh, so if you can get to a D without paying through the nose then it is worth it. If not, it's a figures game to see whether the number stack up, it may be if you are using a lot of electricity during the day.

Shading analysis for East facing roof

Some advice needed as getting conflicting info

Agree. We're doing one in Rotherham this week. 8 panels on south roof, 4 panels on west. Wouldn't consider anything but microinverter or micro optimiser (Solar Edge) now they are on the market. Did a few way back using 2 small inverters which have been performing well, but i like the panel...

charging tenants for electricity usage - PPA

Thanks Worcester - I have been in contact with Sibert who have been helpful, Andy is away at the moment but the team are trying to get me some answers. I have discovered that the the PV is going into a sub db which is no where near the incoming mains (about 40m away in a separate building)...

charging tenants for electricity usage - PPA

There is no export meter as the client uses most of the generated electricity, the new tenant would be the same. it is 3 phase and the PV is connected into the distribution board across the 3 phases. So we could just put in another 3phase generation meter between the db and the supply?

charging tenants for electricity usage - PPA

Who supplies those? or am i being a plank. Been out of the PV minefield for a blissful week and it's taking a while for the cogs to start turning again!

charging tenants for electricity usage - PPA

A client has a 50kW on their roof, they are vacating the building and are renting out the space. They would like to charge the new tenant for using the generated electricity so need a way of measuring export so they know how much the tenant has used. The tenant will still keep their normal...

EU panels with insurance backed warranty

Ok, so Suntellite and Chub is a bad example, I hadn't read it as I don't offer the panels. But some customers will attach a value to this if they are the sort to take the headlines and sales man spiel at face value. Chubb is a recognised name in insurance, so this recognition may lead...

SolarFlash - Slate Roof flashing solution

Or surface mounted ones like V-fix but then you have to buy them from kingspan and pay for someone to come out and assess the installation before they issue the updated warranty cert.

EU panels with insurance backed warranty

Yes Gavin, you are on the right train of thought with regards my question. An independently insured warranty underwritten by a 3rd party insurance company. Renesola, Canadian Solar now offer one via a German insurance provide (i think), as do Suntellite via Chubb. Even if there is only a...

    Adding to an existing system

There are loads of posts about this. Your 3kW will still be at the 43p rate and the additional 1kw will be at the new rate. Your FIT provider will prorata the total generation from the 4kW accordingly to the 2 rates of payment. We have just increased a customer's installation from 12 panels...

EPC on communal area in a block of flats

Thanks for the tip - talking to EPC assessor now to get a gist of where to go from here. What reason did EON give you for refusing?
