Thanks, had a quick look, Siemens charge £2700 for a 5 day course on the basics.
The other place near me is £810 for 5 days!
I’ll read up on the Siemens course tonight, thanks.
Morning, has anyone been on a PLC course?
I’m looking to get into programming and design, likely Siemens S7.
I’m in the Manchester area so in the north west would be good!
If you’ve done a course, was it worthwhile, has it helped you progres?
Thanks.
I agree with the above about getting an electrician to look at it.
If it is induction then it’s likely you can connect a contactor above the ceiling light somewhere and have the switches operate that. The contactor will disconnect live and neutral from the supply when not in use.
I think...
I couldn’t find one in the UK with separate external speed control, only foreign versions.
So I connected the two switched lives directly to the jumper pins for the internal speed control.
It’s the bench at work!
I made them, magnets with wires attached soldered onto silicon wire then pushed into female 4mm banana connectors.
Very simple!
Diameter is around 6.3mm.
I’ll make some slimmer ones soon that should be around 5.2mm using acetal rod rather than pushing the magnets into...
The fan will be in the loft, I doubt it will be heard, it’s the intake noise at the inlet in the ceiling I’m trying to quieten.
It is an in-line fan :)
There is a Manrose speed controller but it’s £50 and I don’t really need that much control over it, just two speeds!
It’s for in the upstairs bedrooms (former bungalow) to remove hot air, is like to be able to select low speed to reduce noise through the intake.

I’be seen a manual for a Manrose MF100 extractor fan (inline) with the option for two speeds to be selected via an external switch, basically it switches between two line inputs to the fan.
I bought one and it only has a jumper switch inside the connection box to select the different speeds...
You could be right there!
Sounds like a weekend project!
I’ll try a split air-con unit if it isn’t enough, thanks.
Would this fan be ok for two rooms of 20 & 9 square meters, with a vent in the ceiling of each room do you think...
Well I bought one in the end and I’ve been using it for a couple of months now.
It’s very good and apart from my Fluke T130 voltage detector, it’s the only meter I use now.
It takes a couple of seconds to ‘boot up’ from some of I reviews I’d read I thought it would be a lot longer!
The...
We have quite a warm upstairs in the summer as we sleep in the loft.
We are thinking of getting either a ceiling fan or small air-con unit such as in the link below.
Does anyone have any advice as to which is better for keeping cool overnight?
Thanks...
Research the company, remember the name of the person you are seeing.
Remember to listen, sound confident, think of examples of where you’ve excelled, such as a solution to a problem you had.
Think of a good sounding reason of why you are leaving where you are, if it’s better money /...
