I really want it but I can't justify spending £25 on it when it's gonna get updated before I actually need it!
I've been thinking I should just bite the bullet, but I remember a thread on here not long ago about dodgy copies from amazon.
Was my answer OK then?
R1+R2 for all earthed points on all circuits, check bonding on all extraneous conductive parts (continuity not above 0.05Ω).
If lighting circuits are unearthed I would be tempted to ensure no fittings requiring an earth are present, although this is more in the scope of an ECIR.
Global IR, good chance on an installation of this age the insulation of the cables has degraded to the point there is a high impedance fault between L/N and E. If you don't confirm the IR values are acceptable, the newly added RCD is may trip and you will have an understandably unhappy customer...
I'm shooting in the dark with my lack of knowledge here, but although this work wouldn't count as a complete rewire, wouldn't it be bad practice to relocate the CU in an inaccessible location? Another under counter cupboard away from the sink would reduce the risk of water of water intrusion...
Very late to the party here but a few points I wanted to make.
Those calling for tougher sentences, that has been the policy for the last 50 odd years, what has the end result been? Greater demand, greater supply, decreases in price, criminalisation of non violent users, £Trillions into the...
I don't want to be entered into the comp, I've already done well enough from the trainee section!
Just wanted to say thanks again to all those involved, moderators and mentors for your generosity, time and the knowledge you share. Also to trainees for asking questions I find interesting!
No...
:6:What a doughnut!
I usually spot these a mile away, just this time it's on a subject I'm a little unfamiliar with.
At least now cairns doesn't have to ask the same question!
Could someone explain to a trainee why it would be lethal to use the DNO supplied earth in such a situation?
If you installed a 30ma RCD at the service head and then another in the DB surely you haven't accounted for discrimination.
Having worked for several agencies, each with a diffrent payroll company, my assumption is their must be some type of a referral fee paid to the agency.
Once I had a month between jobs for the same agency, they made me sign up to a different payroll, refusing to allow me to use the previous one.
My solution:
1. Buy a large quantity of solar tiles.
2. Sell to Armish at fraction of the price as super insulated fire retardant roofing tiles.
3. Explain that due to metal construction they pose a higher risk of lightning strike, sets of tiles need to be linked by 'lightning tube'? (call it...
I've got a long way to go to get to your level of kindness Paul!
The voltstick is unopened and waiting for the next comp to end, if the winner doesn't mind a possible continuation of the joke name gag...
I hope the multimeter comes with another, it makes waiting for the package that bit more...
I'm more than happy to post the volt stick to the winner on the next comp mate, you don't have to worry about footing the bill for another. I'm grateful enough to have the multimeter!
Unless I'm going seriously blind and/or demented it's definitely a volt stick.
My sanity could always use a second opinion though (well 5th if you count the voices in my head).
Didn't get to see the postie sadly. I wasn't looking forward to getting a slip, then heading to the sorting office to convince someone I was in fact Flexible Mick!
I think I may have got the wrong package though, it has a Megger volt stick in it.
Thanks again mate, all the best.
Oops! Must have been because I feel so at home here I didn't think a name would be necessary...
Yea I deserve it, all part of being a trainee. Do your worst!
Wow, I really didn't expect this, after seeing the show us your installs thread I was just happy to put a picture up in a thread where the workmanship didn't pail in insignificance to the rest. I'm still a long way off completing work of that complexity and standard, but it's nice to have my...
Thanks for the comments, it was really satisfying taking the time to do it as neat as possible. Now all I need to do is find someone who's willing to pay me to spend that long second fixing....
I've had to change a few fixings with bugger all slack in the cables, and vowed to never inflict the...
