    Immersion Heater - PV electricity

This is exactly what I've done. The washing machine runs off a 30 degree feed off a short pipe run from the cylinder. Dogs have a nice warm outside tap for washes too!

    PV immersion heater proportional control

Around about the £120 I would have thought.

    PV immersion heater proportional control

Yes it is. In the photo above you can see it is feeding 647W into the immersion. It works by keeping the export between 30W and 70W wherever there is an excess being generated. It will work with any sized resistive load up to about 5.5kW. At the moment it's driving the immersion but will...

    PV immersion heater proportional control

Mmh, my home brew version isn't looking quite so tidy just yet!

    Immersion Heater - PV electricity

@Worcester is that pump mains powered? Can't seem to find any data on it. Also, what are the connections on it?

    Immersion Heater - PV electricity

@Duplada - That's a really neat solution using two thermostats (although I think you got them the wrong way up in your description?). How noisy is the Ebay pump compared to a central heating pump on its lowest setting?

5kw panels, G83 Inveter, 3.68 TIC. Anyone actually done this?

Eh? I think you need to go back to your physics books and understand the difference between energy and power. A solar panel is basically a junction of p-type and n-type silicon. When the sun shines a free electron is generated in the n-type silicon and a corresponding "hole" in the p-type...

    Peak output

Well mine's facing in three directions, two of then "wrong" so :p right back at yer! ;-)

    Peak output

    I'll see your 4.35kW from a 3.84kWp system and raise you 4.38kW from a 3.76kWp system! :-)

    Solar Wdge monitoring

No seems to have mentioned that the new generation of optimsers from SE will work with any string inverter without any interface box, if that's something you wanted to do that is. I assume you wouldn't only get the inverter monitoring in this situation though, not the enhanced SE monitoring.

Planning application - Design & Access statement

If it helps this is what I submitted as part of our planning application (for a domestic property) which was acceptable: 1. Design: The panels chosen are one of the most efficient on the market today, producing 240W of power per panel in a smaller than average footprint, with a thickness of...

What are you currently generating ?

Likewise, my Sanyos are down in power too. Previously on sunny cold days they were easily hitting +10% whereas in the last couple of days they have peaked at -5%.

Question for the experts - Advantage or disadvantage of changing my array ?

Here's what a completely unshaded south facing array of 12 HIT 235's looks like for comparison.

Not getting free electricity with PV panels.

Glad you got it sorted, but it doesn't sound like your installers are too experienced in this field!

    SolarEdge monitoring portal update

I'm not sure it makes sense to see a current reading when the optimisers are not talking to the inverter. The whole point of them dropping to 1v is that they effectively switch off the panels in the event of a failure. I'd be surprised if they would supply much current at all in that mode.

    SolarEdge monitoring portal update

Just to be clear, when the optimisers are not registered to the inverter they should each ouput 1v. When they are registered, then they will output anything from 0v to 60v depending on what the panel is generating and what all the other optimisers in the system are doing. They work together to...

Solar PV is still a good investment.

\ Thanks, I already have a system specified as above, I was interested to see how much pri ces had dropped since the December deadline. It seems not that much according to your figures. Remember for some roofs it's not possible to use cheap and cheerful panels because of limited space. Also...

    SolarEdge monitoring portal update

Yes it does. Plus it allows you to enter different rates from different dates to cope with the increases.
