Do you mean a standard skimmed plasterboard ceiling? How thick is the plasterboard. I take it you haven’t hit a joist? As others have said, don’t force it, just use a small amount of pressure.
Did a college evening course a couple of years back. Mixture of youngsters and several lads originally from Eastern Europe. Youngsters spent most of the time talking about girls & what drugs they’d taken. Eastern European lads worked their socks off & blasted the course. It was good fun, enjoy...
Can they actually guarantee an apprenticeship? I did one of their courses a few years back. Got some of the basic C&G & Logic qualifications but would not recommend them at all.
Probably still too many unknowns. Likely that there are some on here with experience of similar scenarios and up to date knowledge of EV chargers & their requirements. Good luck 😁
Hi Scrummy. I think you would need a site visit from a spark to assess the existing supply and your proposed specifications. They would then be able to give you options. Cable specs will vary according to loads, distances and external factors.
Classic example of of privatising a regulatory public safety / industry responsibility. Government abstains from taking responsibility for safety standards, hands over to a private company that is only interested in profit. Cue the political debate 🤔😜 The professionals get ripped off & the...

If you are building a stud wall from scratch you can fit nogins to mount metal back boxes prior to fixing plaster board. Other than that use back boxes designed for plasterboard fitting.
Do the work in close supervision with a spark that can approve the spec before you do the work, do the pre-change and post change tests and then notify? Might save a few pennies. Look out for borrowed neutrals. 😜
Simple answer is yes … but dimmer needs to be compatible with the type of luminaire (lamp/bulb) as a dimmer that works an old fashioned high wattage bulb won’t work on an LED. It also gets more complicated with two way switching. Easily sorted by a competent person as, depending on how your...
Sounds like your answering you’re own question. I’d be referring more to BS7671. Is this ‘builder’ a member of a scheme? How was the work notified? Leaving exposed live conductors!
Height only applies to current new builds so not necessary. If you are stripping out the whole house and having walls chased etc for new cables you might like to take a view on socket positions being at a more accessible height? I take it the current sockets aren’t in the middle of skirting and...
