    Wiring intermediate switch

Nah, screw slots should be vertical to allow any condensation to drain away. ?

Help with Surface Mount Patress Box Drilling for Conduit.

Just follow the lazy Youtube sparks and use flexi conduit on everything. I've just finished a garage extension and did it in 20mm galv. Good fun but had to borrow a Hilmore and die set from a mate as I can't justify investing in that kit yet.

Help with Surface Mount Patress Box Drilling for Conduit.

If I was wiring a garage with surface mounted wiring in PVC conduit I'd just go for metal clad boxes.

3 x RFC all with no continuity

Could some of the RFC legs have been mixed up between OCPD's i.e out leg on one and return to another so in effect you haven't identified both ends?

3 x RFC all with no continuity

Presumably the end to end testing was done at the DB if you only have single cables feeding at the sockets? Looks like you'll have to test for continuity for each socket back to the one leg to try and make sense of the arrangement or start pulling floorboards up. Sounds like you may be right...

Smart invoicing software for a small business

Like I use Quickfile too and it does have a phone App. A lot of the Youtube sparks seem to be pushing Tradify,no idea of costs though.

    TradesCollege.org electrical training

Keep us posted on your Access Training experience. I used them about 4 years ago and whilst they served a purpose their organisation and facilities were very poor. There was a real conflict going on between tutors and head office and it took an age to get the C&G certificates after passing the...

    USA politics, recent events.

Preaching to the converted there. Unfortunately the default position of many politicians when caught out is to lie. Seems to be the only profession left that is not held to account for lying. Plenty of police officers have been locked up for lying to cover up honest mistakes when a mere...

    Beware the Facebook electrician

That’s what you get if you can’t get to DIY Dave down the pub! No offence to Dave’s ?. Boy, I could murder a pint down the local right now ?

Agree in some respects that the truth is suppressed but the issue is, that when the truth is suppressed people jump to conclusions, falsify it and then use it to promote their own agendas.

    Elecsa brand being retired

Makes business sense with both being the same company. Thing is, with one or two government backed companies running the show I'd like to see some of the profits actually used to police the industry and weed out the dangerous cowboys. After all, isn't this all about safety? The only time any...

    USA politics, recent events.

Where is the evidence of that? Police investigate the allegation infront of them and as I've said, a few years back, if the victims weren't cooperating or engaging the investigations were not pushed forward. There may well have been a racist element to those particular gangs and their young...

    USA politics, recent events.

Too true. I've worked on some very high profile investigations in the past. Often there were headlines based on "leaked info' to the national press. This was however, quite reassuring because it confirmed that there were no leaks as the headlines were, as you say ....bollux ?

    USA politics, recent events.

What I object to strongly is the right wing insinuation specifically highlighting child grooming gangs to Muslim communities. Yes there have been grooming gangs linked to muslim communities but is this anymore prevalent than any other community? All the perverts I arrested were all dirty old...

Backboxes in plasterboard on top of OSB

In my case the use of ply on the stud wall was a structural requirement. Basically had to rebuild the house apart from the walls. ?

    Who can do what works?

As Tel. Competent is the key word. In my distant past I’ve replaced hot water tanks immersion heaters and soldered pipes on a DIY basis but only on a replace like for like basis. You still need to invest in tools and weigh the costs up against getting a pro in.

Backboxes in plasterboard on top of OSB

I had this with a reinforced stud wall in my place. I used standard dry lining boxes and multi-tooled through the plasterboard and OSB or ply in my case. I then had to multi-tool out sections of the underlying ply each side of the box so the back box lugs would fit. A pain in the arse but it...

    Brexit. We’re out!

Probably the billion dollar recruitment issue along with the age old problem of 'jobs for the boys' i.e. who you know and not what you know which is a big issue across the board.
