I think your criticism of the NICEIC is very unfair. They play an essential role in maintaining standards and policing the electrical installation industry.
Never pays to sit back. CPD for everything these days as things are always changing. Plus NICEIC run lots of nice courses just for that purpose. That’s why some time served sparks who did apprenticeships years ago will also not be up to scratch.
Just had my third annual assessment with ELECSA which is transferring over to NICEIC. I’m only a domestic bodger ?. The assessor was of the view that there’ll be grandfathers rights for those currently registered. Said it’s likely to be a headache for those touting the short intensive courses...
Wouldn't drill from the loft downwards as there'd be an increased risk of bigger chunks breaking off on the edges of the ceiling surface as the hole saw breaks through. A pilot hole from above would work though.
You have to be careful with scammers. Those registered as directors are not necessarily running the show. Quite often patsies are used to set up bank accounts to launder the proceeds. You also have company registration agents who will register companies for you. Quite often their names are shown...
Whether it’s a requirement or not it may just be a condition of the ‘funders’. May be the usual backside covering exercise to ensure they have no liability if they have funded a dangerous installation. My thoughts FWIW.
All depends if there is any investigation and conviction. The usual process is to work out the criminal benefit then what available amount the convicted person has, I.e realisable assets etc. A confiscation order is the made to the available amount which when paid can be used for compensation...
