It was just a general question really as the board in question will have around 8-10 twin and earths entering one side so i was just after peoples opinions/methods on how they do it.
Thanks all that have replied so far
Ive changed several CU's all with rear cable entry,
Ive just been to look a job to change a CU with the majority of the cables surface clipped twin and earths...what is the preferred method on cable entry into the CUs?
Ive been looking and found some cable glands that are suitable for twin...
I would like underfloor heating in the bathroom and also in my kitchen.
Would i be correct in think both UFH would need a 20a isolator switch with a separate supply and not just part of the ring/spurred off a ring.
All help appreciated thanks
Could i extend one of the cables using 30amp connector blocks in the back box of the existing socket, then i could make the 2 new sockets part of the ring?
any thoughts on this?
Hi,
I only have 1 socket in one my rooms but would like to install 2 more double sockets, the kitchen backs onto the room and i thinking about spurring of the one of the sockets in the kitchen, i was going to install fused spur (fused 13A) then off the load side install 2 double sockets. Is...
As you can tell by the title I have been stupid and drilled the pre cast flue for my gas fire. I am building a fake chimney breast and in my haste to put up the frame work I fixed 2 batons using plugs and screws into my class 2 pre cast flue. The holes will be hidden in the new breast anyway but...
I would like to install an aerial signal booster/splitter in the loft but it requires a 13A socket. There is no power in the loft so is it ok to spur off the lighting circuit (with 3/5A fuse) and then install a single socket up there?
What are peoples opinions on this? or any other suggestions...
I have my upstairs floor up as in the middle of renovation.
I think 3 rows in the kitchen will look right as it balances it out, so at the minute its either 3 x 5 (original plan) or 3 x 4 or 3 x 3?
Thanks for all speedy replies, I think I will be rethinking my layout then. I've read on the internet about having them about a metre apart is a general rule but guessing that doesn't apply anymore.
I havnt got any wall units so there will be no issue with creating shadows on the worktops and...
I am planning my kitchen diner lighting, i am thinking about installed megaman 5w dimmable led GU10s, not sure on either 2800k or 4000k. whats people past experience with the lighting colour?
My main concern is the number of lights though, the kitchen area will be lit by downlight and the...
i know what you're saying and I could figure it out but I'm big believer in if there is something you're not 100% on you should ask no matter how stupid it sounds. Would much rather ask your guys opinions on the the matter before I steam in and do something I regret. Like I said its my first...
Yes that's what I was thinking Midwest, ideally I didn't want to touch the floorboards upstairs. I also have another question how do people generally run the cables around the kitchen behind the units. I'm going to have a couple of sockets above worktop and a couple of sockets in adjacent...
The kitchen/diner will be skimmed walls and ceiling as there was artex on the ceiling and I will be installing downlights. With reference to splitting the ring so could I split the ring so the downstairs sockets are one and upstairs are on the other both on 20a breakers (RCD side) and then...
I have just bought a relatively new house (15 years old) and didn't expect to do any major electrical work only moving the odd socket. however i went to isolate a socket and realised the whole house was fed off a single ring on 32amp.(still cant believe it was wired like that!)
I'm will be...
