Hi Rob,
I went down the same road as what it sounds like you are heading. Done an installation electrician apprenticeship and then went working in industrial maintenance.
I was lucky that I could do the ONC and then the HNC. These were very useful. I found that there was always the opportunity...
Not quite, it states the relationship between Voltage, resistance and current, it would be one of the first things you learn on your course, along with series and parallel resistor circuits.
Good luck on the electricians course, and well done for doing some research before hand, keep it up if you can.
You might also want to do a little swotting up on ohms law, basic maths (if need be) etc, as this will also pay dividends on your course.
Hi Tony, agree that your suggestion is possible but seems much safer to have cutout pulled.
Wasnt going to touch meter seals, i meant that to say that all seals have been renewed including the cutout
which was until recently was not present. Have done live work on tails many times in the...
Thanks telectrix for clearing that up and thanks geordie for the link, the isolator looks ideal, has separate sealable covers for incoming and outgoing so ideal!!!
Thanks for all the replies, all very useful. To answer the questions:
It is on a camp site where the main tails go to a henly bock then to various distribution boards which I will be doing work on in the near future. There is quite a lot of work involved and the henly block will be removed after...
Hi Lee,
When I had my first inspection I was asked a few questions, one being tripping times for RCDs and min values for insulation resistance testing, then I had to talk thru ring main testing. As Dave said make sure you have all the relevent paper work, they usually send you a document of all...
Hi all, hope you all had a good Easter.
I recently requested to a customer that they request an isolator to be installed by their meter supplier (EDF).
He contacted them and they have refused to supply and fit an isolator but have agreed for an "engineer" to visit to pull the cut-out while an...
Hi Dave
There is a very similar recent post to yours. But anyhow, I completed the HNC a few years ago. I done
2 years day release. I found the maths quite hard and that was after doing the ONC. Also had to do quite a lot of
swotting up outside of college. I would say that the maths that is...
I done the HNC a few years ago, it was day release for two years, also had to do a load of swotting up in evenings.
Done the ONC first, if I didnt the maths would have been really difficult!!!! The qualification did prove worthwhile though.
Think it would be better if you used a DB in the location of the ovens fed via submain from original DB, put 4 separate breakers in for the supplies, and then separate local isolation for the ovens, others on this forum have argued that a DB can be considered a point of isolation. Loads of...
If you have a 20mm or 25mm gland you could use a metal "straight thru" conduit box, bush one side to the plastic box, the other will take the gland,
then connect an earth fly lead to the conduit box, there is a 4mm tapped thread in the box for this. Hope this helps.
I would say £99 is cheap, usually at least half a day gone! However I find it easier when property is empty of furniture (which could be the case on rentals), I could never get near to 4 in a day!!!! Napit claim that it is a good earner (EICR), im not so sure!
