I agree If he is self employed and you have no agreement in place stating he cannot work direct then it is your loss This is the thing with employers- I was forced to go self eomployed 20 years ago so the employer could save money on national insurance etc. Same employer had a huff when I...

Rewiring in an "empty" and a plea for your spare Wagos

That's why we do NOT work for builders- company policy Never had a good experience working with builders. They want you to cut your cost to the bone and then add a massive margin to your invoice to make you look dear to the client. They also miss so much when quoting

Pad Mount Transformer over Pole Mount for New Home Build?

On a side note- put in solar and have dual fuel water heating (a cylinder / storage tank) that takes electric and another method of heat. If it is sunny then PV will heat your water for free, it can also power a tesla wall type thing to suppliment your home in power outages.

UK Guys I’m struggling to find one item which use electric power but it’s not considered an appliance.

Just to put this in the mix. A shaver socket with an isolating transformer is often powered but is not an appliance but an outlet that can consumer power when energised but not in use. Modern ones switch on when you insert a plug but they don't all do this

There is no effective means of earthing We get this occaionally and SPEN are quite quick to fix things- although they took a month to fix one in Galston (they assumed the whole install had RCD by glancing, despite more than one property off the supply) I raised a complaint with SPEN but it...

Electric Meter Switch Isolator wiring orientation

I really like the Hager VC02SW REC isolators The cover can be rotated to allow the supply at either side They are also slimmer than others on the market, as well as having terminals that tighten to 3.6 Nm and cord clamps for the meter tails All in a decent bit or kit.
