Megger MFT-X1, definitely a step backwards.

That was the primary reason given to me by the sales team. It does feel as if every other factor got forgotten. They tacitly admitted, the colour screen draws more power but other manufacturers had gone colour. I've been Megger since college but might have to be Kewtech next purchase

PME fault after moving charger to 3TP board

Interesting. Did you ever resolve this?

Megger MFT-X1, definitely a step backwards.

I seriously considered the X1, my main interest being that it should be able to connect to a laptop and auto-fill the results. This would remove any chance of an error due to my dyslexia. Currently I photograph my 1730 for certain readings as a double check against my notebook entries...

2 dimmers on 2 way switching

My approach exactly, where clients supply kit it will cost me more time compared to parts I know so charge accordingly. Recently five, 10 packs of Screw fix down lights. What the client "saved" buying poor quality, he spent double in the time it took to fit and zip-tie every terminal closed...

Anybody have experience with DiLog DL9118 MFT?

Yep! With you there. All my Erbauer kit has lasted five years constant use. When the Combi-drill had an issue, it was swapped over the counter.

    Kingfisher Need Help portal.

Popped into Screw fix, rubble bags, since you asked ;) and spotted this for the first time. Apologies if it's old, and I know few are fans of the race-to-the-bottom job portals such as Rated People. However, thought I'd pitch it up here and see if anyone has found it useful. Here's the...

    TT SYSTEM

This is something bothering from a slightly different angle; I have an installation (using SWA) where the land is very free draining and a bit sandy. The Ze to rod(s) can be highly variable to say the least and so I 'm opting for a type C at the main board and and type B's at the wooden...

Napit versus NIC EIC? Napit support is nonexistent, so is NIC EIC any better?

Well, Napit did finally call me back a day and a half after hitting the issue. Offered the opinion that the Gas-Safe system served the operatives better. Interestingly, both the CPS organisations have had a huge influx of new people driven by the furlough scheme and the landlord certificates.

Napit versus NIC EIC? Napit support is nonexistent, so is NIC EIC any better?

Hi There, Expect this is an old question. I'm currently with Napit. Chose them because their Code-breakers is such a useful tool. However, their on-line Notifications facility is not working and I've spent two days chasing their support office to no effect. Any of you folk had a better...

Identifying an old Wylex CU Breaker

Much appreciated. Thank you for going to so much trouble. Less concerned about getting the job but would like to know this client is safe; even from her own decision making.

Identifying an old Wylex CU Breaker

4mm multi! Not much use for anything except as a draw wire for a bit of 10mm T&E. Something else the plumber skipped when he fitted a 9Kw Triton on the old cable.

Identifying an old Wylex CU Breaker

Interestingly, quoted the the client with a follow-up to "explain why the "half hour for the sparky to fit a breaker" the plumber had promised before disappearing, had morphed into a board change or external RCD. The client reported "all sorted"! my suspicion is an unsafe connection to the...

Identifying an old Wylex CU Breaker

That's interesting and looks very similar although one of my fears is, as mentioned above, will the thirty year old RCD work and would you trust your reputation or their life to it? Brilliant answers - I may print this and thread and show it to the client whom, I suspect, is wondering why a...

Identifying an old Wylex CU Breaker

I was asked to "just fit a bigger breaker" by a plumber who had installed an electric shower for a customer. Bit surprised he hadn't finished the task but I arrived with a DIN rail full of conventional, spring fitted MCB's. I've seen a fair amount of old kit (East London rentals are full of the...

I have not been paid, what shall I do

So.... That was written in January 2020. Such halcyon days; pre-covid awareness. When I looked for advice on the Small Claims Court there was very little and even the legal profession didn't want to know. I spoke to a local office and they gave me 30 minutes free advice. Everything else is my...

3183Y Pond Flex frustrations. The "proper" way to strip this material

Thanks guys. I am probably trying variations of your methods but the "stretchyness" of 3183Y is what makes it resilient in use and so laughs off attempts to to dismantle it. Thanks for all your input.

3183Y Pond Flex frustrations. The "proper" way to strip this material

Good evening folk, Recently took a role that involves using a lot of 2.5 mm 3183Y "pond flex". Is there an easy way to strip the outer sheath without risk of nicking the inner core insulation? Slicing and tugging might have been OK for the occasional garden light install but something faster...
