    Ze=1.87 TT or TN-S?

Just out of interest, why are you doing a no trip test? Suppliers don’t give the consumer RCD’s.

No load fuse trip but not RCD.

This is what happens when someone who is not qualified to do the work does the work! Yes, any electrician who is a real and proper electrician (Not someone who says they are) should have and be able to use the relevant testing equipment. If he/ she does not have it then it is not worth them...

    Help!!! Can't turn electric off!!!

Believe or not the brown tail is the neutral by the looks of it. Incredible! The grey tail is the TN-C-S link between earth and Neutral even though it is also set up as a TN-S. I’ve seen this twice before.

Need help/advice, insure of what the problem is and think I’m being ripped off

If he's not got a insulation resistance tester then he is not an electrician worth employing. If hes undone all his work and cannot find the problem visually then, to be fair to him, it may not be his work, it may be a coincidence. That said, if he has a IR tester the next procedure is to...

Adding circuits to a full DB

There seems to be a marked difference in opinion on this thread than another similar one that I had argued before : (Does this setup contravene any regs or is it ok? - https://www.electriciansforums.co.uk/threads/does-this-setup-contravene-any-regs-or-is-it-ok.167990/. For the record, and you...

Can't reset the RCD with any MCB's on - Faulty RCD?

Yes that’s possible with that fuseboard although if your electrician has changed that rcd, it doesn’t comply with regulations. There are regulations regarding discrimination which your installation falls short of. He/ she should not have issues certs staying that it complies. However, getting...

Can't reset the RCD with any MCB's on - Faulty RCD?

What was there before the new rcd was fitted? Was it a straight forward main switch?

Is this NICIEC extractor fan installation safe?

If this guy or madam is a qualified electrician, I will be a monkeys uncle and if you get a properly filled out certificate, I will eat my hat!

Shed supply from new build property

Correct. It should be a serious consideration. This is why you are not allowed PME for the new EV chargers.

    Where are CCTV notices required?

What about if the camera picks up a crash on the public highway that has damaged the cctv owners car as it was parked outside on the street?

Shed supply from new build property

Exporting PME is not a good idea, especially if the floor of the shed is not insulated.

    Where are CCTV notices required?

To be honest, I struggle with that on a normal Friday night out!

    Knob & Tube question

I’ve seen quite a few of these doing electrical work in the UK. They were more active during the mid 2000’s but slowly but surely they are being eradicated. They offered a serious risk to home grown, qualified, UK sparks and it’s good to see that since the rise in knowledge from the UK...

Shed supply from new build property

Being a new build, I would have thought this would be a TN-C-S. As such do the builders know if the shed has a wooden floor or have they even asked?

    Where are CCTV notices required?

Blimey! What a mine field. What about if somebody has CCTV, a break in or damage occurs. Can the recorded footage be used to prosecute even though no signs were present?
