How many lights in a burger van......

A chap I know who became an electrician after several years as some kind of roving consultant chef for Waitrose insists that one cannot have too much light in a kitchen and at that it should be "daylight" / 6,000K bulbs as well.

Local wet pants company offering electrical services!

Sounds painful. How much do they charge for a plain vanilla straight hour?

    Using earth as neutral

Worth a read, I think: Using Green/Yellow not as CPC - https://www.electriciansforums.co.uk/threads/using-green-yellow-not-as-cpc.35860/ Strictly speaking it would seem that over-sleeving is okay, but personally I'm on the side of those that would never do it - mostly due to the element of...

Estate Agents says Fit For Purpose

Interesting. I have just been reading up on induction hobs as a result of my interest being piqued by this thread and it is claimed (of course!) that the hobs do not emit dangerous radiation.

Indeed. Copper - too good a shorted turn (though even they have some resistance of course :)).

It's not about magnetism as such, but eddy currents. Think of the pot as being a shorted turn on a transformer.

Indeed, and this can also be caused by poor contact (as evidenced by the reported sparking) in the socket. Some compressors have a valve which can (should) be used to reduce the load on the motor on startup to help combat the potentially fatal (for the motor) startup stall. Mine does (also a...

Back Boxes for 57.5mm Dab n Dot Insulated Plaster Board

It is a phenomenon that is uniquely acute in the context of a well insulated wall. Technically, it's called cold bridging, and the effects can be ruinous. The nice warm air inside your house is loaded with water vapour. When it hits the cold metal box connected to the exterior brickwork it...

General rant about the standards of driving these days!

So option (3) has one covered for CLODs then! I had one yesterday - 60mph in the third lane of a four lane stretch. Nothing in the inner two lanes of course. it was all stacked up behind the tw*t in the third lane waiting for a slot in the fourth to get around him. (Actually, it was a her...

Back Boxes for 57.5mm Dab n Dot Insulated Plaster Board

No, it was in the context of the OP's original post. I know that dry line back boxes are plastic. :) Plastic back boxes without insulation behind them will also suffer from condensation as well. Although not quite as badly, and they won't rust. It is still not a good idea though.

Back Boxes for 57.5mm Dab n Dot Insulated Plaster Board

A bit late with this comment and the problem has already been alluded to by a couple of other posts, but if you do not have any insulation behind those metal back boxes then you will get condensation and you will get the boxes rusting out over time. The only way to avoid this would be to...

We're in an undisclosed secret location in W13 so you're all out of luck (unless you know where Waitrose is that is... ;) ) I have looked at every datasheet, video, and online reference that I can find and remained unenlightened hence my question here. I reckon SparkyChick (and others) are...
