The company you work for should have some sort of procedure in place for getting the fuse removed. Any work has to be done to bs7671 18th edition. If you know these regs then you might be needing RCD protection, SPD, if altering or making additions to the circuit it should be up to current...

    Additions/alterations to installations. SPDs???

Is there SPDs available that fit inside a 3phase DB? Appendix 16 shows one in a seperate enclosure.

    Additions/alterations to installations. SPDs???

There’s a reg about not having to update plastic CU’s in domestics. But nothing like that for SPDs. As was said case by case and hope for the best. As for risk assements I won’t be doing them so will probably means fitting more RCDs.

    Additions/alterations to installations. SPDs???

another SPD queerie! So having a flick through the regs and it’s clear where and when we need them. But when adding new circuits or even a second CU to an existing installation, should they be going in like we do with RCDs? I would say no to alterations but should when adding a new CU (but...

    Installing Recessed Lighting

I think you should get a few quotes, possibly mark and drill out the holes for the spark. There’s a few things that need checked like ocpd, bonding, rcd protection etc ..... that may turn into extra work that you weren’t expecting

Is this Asbestos? In an old Ceiling

I couldn’t say. As an employee, if it was me, I would be asking for an asbestos survey before continuing with any work.

What about one of those mult hasps you get in a lock off kit. You would clamp that in then fit the pad lock on there?

    What would you do here.

KEV thought about doing that but discrimination with MCBs may not be good with the main house being on it too, I agree it would be a neat way of doing it.

    What would you do here.

Cid, i would prefer to keep the fuses. Not going into why as want to keep the discussion on the set up.
