    Church wiring advice

I would have expected that for a G1 building English Heritage will ultimately specify the materials and method - expect Pyro/MICC to be high on the list whether you like it or not.

    Boat engine electrics

How long is a piece of string?! So many different types, plus in/outboard..... However if it's turning to start it's unlikely to be electrical (in the battery sense). If it's diesel then I'd be checking ignitors and separators in the first instance, then onwards to seals and fuel pumps.

Anyone here have links with Western Power training?

Sadly, doesn't ever really work out that way - I've tried in the past with others. If I can justify the recruitment of a trainee onto a project, at the project's expense, then all's well. But as a business I can't even come close to a financial argument that allows for tens of thousands a year...

Anyone here have links with Western Power training?

Young girl (16 and great) who lives next door to me is trying really hard to find an electrical apprenticeship without much luck and I've just been chatting to her about it and she said she'd be really interested in overhead and HV work. Thought it might be worth me trying to do some...

USA Designing an Electrical Power System for a rack

AVR's and Generators in a rack??? And only at 7.5kW?? What are you actually trying to build?

    3-phase installation

I'm more concerned about all the destroyed neutrals!! At least at the moment the DNO's can have limited control over phase balancing, install 3ph all over the place and you've lost that control. Add to that the increasing issues with SMP's and it's a recipe for disaster. There's also the...

Electrician Charging Me To Rewire Junction

The challenge that you have with this is that you've no confirmed start point. Because you have a lack of an EICR you don't actually know what work did/not need doing in the first place and clearly he's now at liberty to right up any old rubbish to justify himself. I would - a) inform your...

Waiting for this lot to "get lost" out of my way to commission 4 x 2000A cabinets 😂

Why aren't AFDD's a requirement in hotels like they are in HMO's

I think it’s simply that a) hotels are considered a controlled, maintained environment with a raft of other existing safety measures such as fire suppression and b) the push for AFDD’s was largely from the fire service after Grenfell (understandably). I all but live in hotels (I’m typing this...

Procrastinating on packing for another three weeks away from tomorrow whilst starting to work out CAD drawings for the project afterwards when I'm back..whilst having early discussions on the job after that which is another six weeks away.

    2 x t&e for 3 phase isolator

It’s a C3. Somewhere in the regs (I would have to have a copy with me to remind myself where!) there is commentary that all line conductors have to be within the same overall sheath/mech protection. The reason being is that by having effectively 2x together and 1x separate they will have...

    Switchgear upgrade advice needed.

Please do remember to account for diversity in all this - with 1200 and 2000A incoming services I’d be surprised if you do actually need to uprate services

    Im testing some badges out.

I've always thought that the danger with badges based on thread count alone is simply that one thread of genius wisdom can be worth 10k of utter drivel, but, there's no way really of policing that unless the badge system was made to reflect likes and solutions, I guess.

Not a bad start to the week - before morning coffee and just put a three week booking for Saudi in the diary, just landed out of nowhere.

    Lighting control system options

So, you've got all (or ccts in questions, anyway) the lighting outlets wired as single radials back to a central point - hub / spoke fashion, and the switch plates are fed using a Cat5/6 data cable, again all going back to the same central point??

Cat 6 solid core for rj45 male ends

In fairness to the OP, that's a slightly different issue. All versions of 'CAT' are meant to be a seamless continuous run from end to end. Patch bays and joints are only ever as good as the person who installed it.

Getting power of the light wiring

There are lots of very good small size AA battery type self adhesive LED lights available - go to amazon etc and have a look.

Cat 6 solid core for rj45 male ends

Yes - an analogy I got taught years ago for cables is 'like a good partner - solid on the inside, flexible on the outside'.
