Power off. Have a look behind switch… check for damage…
Symptoms suggest a dead short either L to N or L to E on the switched live between the switch and light.
Can we get an idea of age and condition of the installation? Any evidence of rodent damage?

It seems to indicate that these two wires are to be considored as a pair... thats my opinion on it. Come and go to the same two peices of equipment perhaps.

It’s 2 pairs of parallel lines, but one pair has a short diagonal line between its longer lines.
It’s not a physical connection…. So could it be indication that those two wires are joined by the insulation, like a 2 core cable.

Usually, on a detector test, the alarms dont sound… just a visual indicator. To stop buildings being completely evacuated on every test.

I think we’ve sorted out the “less than helpful” responders, the unfair criticism of diyers… If we could only sort out the ones that ask a question, don’t take heed of advice and go ahead anyway…. We’de be laughing.
A fuse indeed can carry more than its rating for some time, as I’ve mentioned… but like your experiment, it’ll heat up.
Mostly, it gives end users a rough idea of what should and shouldn’t be done.
If it says 13A, then dont, in practice, plug in things that exceed that 13A .
when buildings are that old, the timbers are going to be dry... and even with grace of God, accidents will happen.
Possibly the electrics are as old as electricity itself.... and never upgraded... Best place to find old wooden fuseboards... or those high spires are ust too good at conducting...
