    Ebay sniping software

I used to use sniping software all the time, but the company went under and the alternative deals didn't suit my buying pattern. At the end of the day, if you decide what is the maximum price you will pay, and submit a regular eBay bid for that amount, you either win (happy, you got it for the...

    Connecting induction hob

It seems that they do exist, but have the predicted disadvantages: https://kitchinsider.com/13-amp-induction-hob/

    Connecting induction hob

I was a bit surprised that an induction hob would work on a 13A plug. That's only about 3kW whereas most of the induction hobs I've seen are in the range 7-11kW. So I'd be pretty cautious about how effective it is - as you say, maybe only one ring on full at a time. I'd be looking at user...

    Indoor PIR in the kitchen

Says it fits in a 25mm back box, and/or has an extender. But many alternatives either need a neutral and/or won't switch LED lighting. So I guess some compromises might be needed. Or just wait for the kids to grow out of their "forgetfulness". UK lighting design seems to be so constrained by...

    Indoor PIR in the kitchen

I was also wondering how many hours of usage would have to be saved to pay for the PIR... You could look at something like this as a straight replacement for your light switch, if it is 1-gang...

    wi-fi switches

@telectrix so what was the outcome, did you fit the Shelly 1L in the switches, or the Quinetic at the light fitting? Or something else?

    Wylex push button MCBs

I looked at similar MCBs that other people were selling https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284209536300?hash=item422c355d2c:g:mdYAAOSwBCdgQ424 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174903769067?hash=item28b913b7eb:g:AWUAAOSwySdhIkC2...

    Wylex push button MCBs

Not sure if I'm allowed to do this... Having a clear-out, 7 Wylex MCBs from my old DB gone to fleabay: http://ebay.us/8HGCwV?cmpnId=5338273189

EICR failed. Old installation, lighting circuit on 1 mm2

My 2016 new-build house, 5 bedrooms over 3 floors (i.e. must be more than 68m of cable per circuit) is on 1mm cable for the lighting circuits. Since you'd struggle these days to find a light bulb over about 7W that used to be 40-60W it seems unlikely that you'd need to rewire back up to 1.5mm

UNSATIFACTORY EICR REPORT BASED ON C3

As a landlord you are responsible for the electrical installation in your property and should listen to appropriate advice about it. So one option would be to replace the CU with a non-combustible one, use the sign-off from the (qualified) installer to "cancel" the unsatisfactory EICR - and...

    wi-fi switches

But the Qinetic WiFi Receiver seems to need a neutral anyway...which isn't available.

    wi-fi switches

I just saw something a bit concerning on the support community: This year we were invited by WWF to participate in the Earth Hour initiative. Let's do something good, even though nothing happens in just one hour. Create a scene called EARTH HOUR to turn off the lights you choose from 20:30 to...

    wi-fi switches

Device is actually 14mm, so if you are lucky and the boxes are not flush with the plaster but inset by a few mm you might just squeeze it in.

    wi-fi switches

I've been looking for something like that! My guess is that there are so few options if you don't have a neutral that chasing in a deeper box is a small price to pay. I'll have a look at my house in the UK next time I can get there, but I only have dot & dab plasterboard in most cases.

    Alternatives to 6242Y

I'm in Azerbaijan but wired my house using UK T&E cable. But that was a few years ago and there is none left. I have some small jobs to do and have located two potential alternatives: 6242B 2.5mm (2x2.5 + 1.5) for ring mains - made in 2012 CU/LSF/LSF (2x1.5 = 1.0) for lighting - made in 2010...
