    Insulation resistance test issue

Chris - attached. Main job is to replace the CU, mains tails and bonding all part of same job in the garage, I think. I've dealt with the small things. This is item 7. Tony - back in 2013 I wouldn't have had any USB sockets, but do now! Some fluorescent lights (the big old tubes) with...

    Insulation resistance test issue

:) To know if someone knows what they are doing, you need to have a pretty good idea yourself...that's why I'm asking:)

    Insulation resistance test issue

Report attached, I have: Lim on most L-N 0 on all N-E and some L-E Scope would have been agreed by my agent, I doubt if they would have understood what it means anyway. I doubt if dimmers were removed. Would that also apply to switches with PIRs built in (garage)? Thanks

    Cooker circuit options

The oven I can believe, mine is 2.8kW so would be OK on a 16A RCBO. But a typical 4 ring induction hob is around 7.5kW so a 13A plug seems highly optimistic and needs careful checking.

    Insulation resistance test issue

Back in 2013 I had a Domestic Electrical Installation Condition Report done on my rented property - nothing horribly major but one thing I didn't understand... I had a C3 code for "0 ohms readings for I.R test for sockets & lighting (unable to remove all loads sockets, lighting had electronic...

    Hob and cooker diversity

I'm not an electrician but I understand a bit of maths... When you apply the principle of diversity, you are really looking for a justification to downgrade the cable to less than the sum of all the peak loads. So it's not really a mechanical formula of 70% of this and 70% of that, but more...

Dodgy trade pictures for your amusement! - 1 Million Views!

I live abroad...this is considered normal! When we have heavy rain sometimes these types of connections start to arc, the fireworks are spectacular as the cable often melts. My own house is connected properly, but still the mains is 4x16mm aluminium single-insulated and I have 4x35mm copper...

    3 phase domestic job

Some hobs have the ability to connect to two phases of a 3ph supply. Might be useful to help spread the load as the hob is going to be one of the highest power consumers. But I'm not based in the UK, different rules and different gear in the shops. My hob is AEG.

Small voltage from neutral to earth on TT system

I'm building a house in Azerbaijan, with 3 phase mains supply and TT earthing. The main transformer is at least 800m from my house. Whilst doing my final measurements before going live, I noticed a small voltage between neutral and earth. It varies between 2-4V and seems to be AC. It isn't a...
