As Murdoch says. Its worth getting the rcd tested electrically and also get the earthing checked. A rcd will not operate correctly if the earthing is not adequate, since it measures an imbalance via "earth leakage" current.
I was chatting to my work colleagues late last year how I thought the idea of having a private plate makes me shudder. How, as mentioned by pirate every Tom, Dick & Harry spot the plates and then know where you are or have been.
Then my missus, as a surprise, goes and buys me one for Christmas...
Yes, an extremely intelligent guy who contributed much to the world of science and cosmology. I own and have read all of his books and enjoyed listening to his talks on space and the universe. Considering he was diagnosed to likely lose his life at much younger age, reaching 76 was a major feat...
Just a bloody big con as usual!
"Lets sneak it in the small print and hopefully no one will notice, that way we can legally rip people off to pay for our yacht"
All under the banner "We assure quality... look after the elderly, do charity work for the homeless, take care of sick kids... blah...
I know a very good electrician who does nothing but domestic. I also know a very good electrician who does nothing but industrial. Both are electricians.
"Electrician" is a broad term for many skill sets within the industry. We all have our own opinions on what we would class an "electrician"...
There's not enough information to make judgement on the electrician. Where I live 10 hours work would equate to around £250. So assuming the job was straight forward and done correctly £460 is not out of the realms of realistic. But due to the large difference in prices I can understand why...
Now this will get me started! My pet hate is when somebody farts and you are there breathing it in. Its just foul, disgusting and very inconsiderate! I don't want to ingest somebody elses bowel contents!
If you need to let off, do it in private!!!!!
Ah... good old Henry, just a basic cleaner that does the job well!
"I had a hoover once which I decided to sell, well it was just hanging around collecting dust" Tim Vine.
How do you conclude that? The load is 11kw so at 240v the current would be around 45.8A , @ 230v around 47.8A
There are a number of factors to consider why the rcbo is tripping. It is either going to be thermal overload or earth leakage. My initial suspicion was thermal overload since the kiln...
The scary thing is that there are people out there this thick doing work in people's homes! I was going to suggest maybe an IQ test as a competence qualification for all installation engineers. But this does not prove a person has any common sense!
There is only one expression to describe this...
In basic laymans terms:-
Electrical current will flow via the least resistive path. obviously we want to avoid/minimise current flow through the human body during a fault condition when an exposed conductive part is touched.
Connecting any exposed conductive parts together (bonding) allows the...
Are you sure the barn is 1000mtrs away, not 100mtrs?
If the barn is 1000mtrs then for the 15kw supply you would require a minimum 70mm2 cable. But this gives you the bare minimum supply voltage so more information is required to do an accurate calc. Once other things are factored in i.e routing...
No one is suggesting that you are not capable of doing the installation work. Many experienced competent people are quite capable of doing a good installation job. What is important is that you are able to do the necessary inspection & testing, be fully competent at doing the required tests and...
You don't really need to use foil back underlay over floorboards, its more for use on aggregate floors (cement/concrete) but its up to you. In my experience I prefer to use fibre back boards and tape the seams. This way you can just lay them together a few pieces at a time as and when you...
I have come across old arc welders that are connected across 2 lines of a 3 phase supply. One might reasonably argue that a load connected between 2 phases of a UK supply is in fact a single phase 400 volt load, and that a true 2 phase supply with a 90 degree phase angle between phases is...
