To the OP the answer to your question is no you will not gain a JIB approved electrician by just completing the AM2 exam you will need to complete your NVQ 3 portfolio which will require an NVQ assessor that you register with to sign off certain aspects of work you do i.e on a commercial site...
To the OP
What a brilliant thread this is.
To all that have replied i have to thank you all as it is most informative and this is exactly how us trainees learn on such issues. The replies have been very useful and this is why im still a member of this forum as you can learn a lot from it...
Brilliant feedback and glad it all went well and fair play to the electrician who gave you the experience and chance to build your confidence. Good luck for the future.
Im still not fully qualified yet but still remain in the trainee section.
Currently working in the H.V sector replacing transformers and switchgear etc so just cant get the time to complete my original goal of becoming fully qualified. When I get a chance I will be back to college to gain the...
Try and be always one step ahead of the spark who you are helping by looking at what he is doing. Be onsite before him in the morning and as others have said be prepared. Never feel embarrassed to ask questions as this is how you will learn but if you are in a domestic property do not ask...
To the OP its an absolute insult paying that rate.
The petro/ chemical industry is a specialised field and if you have done your time in this field fair play to you and dont even think twice about working for that hourly rate. Check what testing and commissioning electricians are earning and...
Massive 1 you are right its not a qualification but a lot of Electrical Trainee courses make it out to be.I think some even offer a certificate of competence in part P but it is worthless.
Part P is the notification of electrical works carried out in domestic properties. It stipulates what work is notifiable to LBC and what is not. To comply with Part P regulations means you understand what electrical work is notifiable and what is not i.e special locations e.t.c.
and you have...
Agree with the above post as if you read the OPs post it states Check the safety of electrical systems prior to the commencement of inspection, testing and commissioning"... The commissioning being energising a circuit or circuits.
Patrik you have experience in this field albeit in another country so try applying to the employment agencies as an electrical improver if you have the ECS card it will be the ancillary operative grade but that is all that is required to get onsite as an improver.
Sorry just read post #2 again, try and find out what the equivalent qualification you have achieved in Italy relates to in the U.K you may find you wont have to pass certain parts of the city & guilds courses.
It seems that your problem lies within applying for jobs as an electrician as, and please dont take offence to this you are not an electrician with your current qualifications. A qualified electrician status will be someone who has undertaken the city and guilds 2365 level 2 & 3 and will have...
To the OP from my experience and im in my mid 40s a recognised technical college will always be far more respected by your possible future employer than the fast track route some other providers will provide. I have commented on previous posts on this subject in this forum. I started to retrain...
All this umbrella company crap needs scrapping. employment agencies offer a rate on an hourly basis and then you find out that you have to pay the umbrella company to process your wages which is about £20 per week, this over a 40 hour week drops your rate by 50p an hour, you then have to pay...
Surely the 10mm T&E is the customers side of the install nothing to do with the suppliers side and should not of been connected by BG meter installer. The smart meter is fitted directly after the DNO cut out fuse and then the smart meter feeds the consumer unit. I dont think it should of been...
Hi Sym
Its a hard job getting through to the JIB call centre operatives they run a computer says no policy in a majority of cases and its frustrating. Most sites will now require a gold card qualified electrician to work on as a spark and to get a sparks hourly rate but you can gets loads of...
Agree with massive 1 on this just starting out on level 2 is not sufficient knowledge to think of starting out on peoples homes, Gain experience and not from wiring up an electrical circuit on a board in the college workshop. Get yourself experience from working alongside a qualified electrician...
