LED possible strip lighting above worktops (under wall units)

Thanks, no pelmets at all. First idea was for some tubular type LED lighting that I saw in a pub recently. The tubes changed colour also. I don't want to see the fittings, just a glow from the lights.

If you were posh, a fluorescent strip light!. I intend to install LED lighting above the worktops. I looked at a video clip yesterday...

Designing Recess LED lighting for Kitchen

Friends house, busman's holiday. I was advised about 700mm would be better. Makes sense to light up worktop areas. So, if I put lights 700mm from each wall, that would leave approx. 3700mm - 1400mm = 2300mm between the rows. Would a middle row be required to even the light out?

Designing Recess LED lighting for Kitchen

I'm first fixing.........I pulled down the ceiling last week. I was thinking of using LED recessed fire retardant fittings. Would it not be better to use sealed light fittings? I don't want fittings that give off a lot of heat. Thanks

2core swa, not earth load end.. TT

Not that I'm into testing.....Could not the OP measure the TN Zs at incoming SWA cable at garage consumer-unit? Note reading and subject that reading from the Ze reading obtained at the house consumer unit giving R1-R2. Another way...use Method 2 wandering lead, assuming connection can be made...

Catenary wire heights in a domestic setting.

When doing catenary wires years ago, I would always use an insulated catenary wire. For fixings, I used insulated one-bits.

    Is drilling rafters OK?

Agree with above comments. Electrician has thought about those pipes. Are the ceiling beams to be left exposed? Is that your concern re the cable?

    Is my house wired wrongly?

How old the property? Possibly 1 x socket was a storage heater circuit years ago and now converted to a socket, hence being a radial circuit. The other socket could well on a ring. If in doubt get an electrician in.

RCD being used as a main switch

OP, are you referring to a domestic installation? On a distribution system, many installations use a RCD as main isolation switch.

connection of an 11kw 240v kiln into my household supply

Possibly have the kiln fire up at night time via (cheaper rate electric) a timer/contactor. I would however inform your local DNO company that you intend increase load.

Final circuit & DNO cable in same trench

Why not put the DNO cable, which as you say will be in ducting into one corner of the trench. Customer's SWA cable and or ducting in the opposite corner of the trench. You could also clearly mark on marking tape which is which. I don't personally see a problem.
