Leisure Batteries & Inverters for Mobile Coffee Van

A small generator could work out cheaper, like you see on burger vans etc, or is this out of the question due to the noise or needing to move location often The loads you mentioned are around 75A at 12v if you were to use 100Ah deep cycle battery at full load it should last just over an...

    Martindale V7 false positives?

I would never trust the non-contact testers to prove anything, iv had 2 of them and both couldn't give consistent information I use a Martindale Drummond to check for live or dead, Its brilliant, very simple, can see the indication lights from all angles and it doesnt anoyingly beep at...

Hardwiring a dash cam - not enough power reaching device?

A multimeter would also be very good, as you could measure the DC voltage output of the hard wire kit Inside this kit its probably just an electrical component called a regulator, I have had one of these fail in the past and pass over the input voltage, A multimeter would confirm if the...

Hardwiring a dash cam - not enough power reaching device?

As others have said you need to confirm with a good ground (this could be from the battery negative terminal for example), although the bolt you have used is a grounding point it could have some corrosion etc adding resistance meaning not enough current can flow. Think of it as if the 2...

    I read that as 16a 3 phase ?

    Not another hot tub post....

I would say bonding would be unwise on tncs, strange that it asks for bonding perhaps it is not double insulated although would have still thought it would be taken care of within the unit using the CPC from the plug, maybe it is also sold in a country which often has un-earthed exstension...

    Lost neutral on PME consequences

I have been told by someone from the DNO fixing a power cut that this is a PME electrode at the bottom of a service pole in my village, At least my PME looks to have a much better electrodes that the last post with the underground joint. It seems as if every pole with a joint in my village...

    Lost neutral on PME consequences

Just seen a picture of an older PME joint Apparently the copper "pigtail" in the left of the frame is a PME electrode, I wonder what kind of resistance that has, doesnt look like it has much surface area to be in contact with earth.

Earthing mat is making me ill !

The FAQ suggest every house is TT, I am sure most are TN Yes pseudoscience springs to mind

    Exporting Pme

So is switching of the earth prohibited, but only allowed for EV charging?, and therefore if you used a device (matt-e, garo etc etc) to protect against a PEN fault by switching the earth but not for an EV but instead for an outbuilding or hot tub or similar would that be prohibited as the...

    Exporting Pme

Indeed yes I do feel like it is an incomplete solution, but better than nothing especially if the item in question is unlikely to be touched etc (unlike an EV) Shame we dont have access to all 3 phases in houses, its quite easy to detect a PEN fault with 3 phase

    Advice on TT system

Interesting when a TT building is linked to a TNCS building via pipes or structural steel What happens if a EV charger is installed at the TT building, without any thought to 722.411.41 due to the fact it is TT, but then the EV is still subject to all the dangers of EVs on PME I guess a...

    Exporting Pme

Instead of making a metal outbuilding TT and having a high impedance electrode and then relying on RCDs and having the possibility of 2 earthing systems in close proximity, could you use an earth electrode (for measurement only) and a voltage monitoring relay that opens a contactor (L, N & PE)...

    Exporting Pme

It might not be 230v, could be more or less depending on phase balance, Perhaps we need to contact all our neighbours on our local transformer and get everyone to use there oven, tv and electric shower, etc all at the same time of day so the phases stay balanced, then no voltage on CPC in a...
