As title suggests im starting a new job Monday gaining experience working on generators and motors in quarrys, its a week long trial with a view to giving me a 6 months to a year long placement. Im just not sure what to expect, the guy has said theyve went through 20 apprentices in recent years...
Doing my assignment for Three phase motors and one of the questions is for Torque. The assignment is due on Wednesday and I had the assignment finished ages ago but other people from my class have only just started it. One of the guys has got most of the same answers as me but then theres a...
I wish he was teaching me but he tells what he wants done then leaves me on my own, plus its only on a as needed basis so maybe a couple of days one week and then nothing for three weeks. But he wants to put me on the courses to get me full time inspecting and testing but Im worried ill not know...
probably sounds better doing it two evenings a week, im already doing a full day at college each week from 9-8 for my current course. I got lucky with him, but I dont get paid by him I volunteer at the minute and he said that hes not happy about not paying so he will pay for training courses and...
if I had the time to do it properly I would but I just want to learn enough to do inspection and testing as thats why hes employing me and training me. I would prefer to not use short cuts but thats what Im reduced to unfortunately

thanks very much for the advice its greatly appreciated. Ill look into the 2394/5 courses and ill speak with my tutor to see if he can recommend where to do the courses. Im currently studying my HNC in electrical/mechanical engineering which doesnt provide any practical experience just theory
thanks for that lol The guy im working with is putting me through 17th edition and inspection and testing but with no previous experience in the industry I dont see how Im able to do the job. Seen a tradeskills for the 2365 which lasts 30 weeks but its £7000 which is way off my budget
Ive limited experience in the electrical field and im wanting to learn. Would this course be worth while? I cant get a placement with anyone as I have childcare issues and my employer doesnt have the time to train me from the beginning. The only issue I see with the course is that its 8 days...
3 phase power going to outdoor wall terminals I shouldve said, again im not technically minded so probably use a lot incorrect terms. Something similar to the below link.
380-415V Legrand Hypra Interlocked Switched Inclined Socket 3P+E+N (IP44) | Screwfix.com
Ill google everything I need and...
I know it sounds crazy lol the guy is doing the work for the place but its not being paid for. Think its as a favor so theres no urgency on it. I've installed 2 3 phase wall connections this week used steel armored 4 core cable, that was simple but the lighting circuit mystifies me. I can do all...
Ive been trying to get something like that but with the course im doing I need a wide range of subjects rather than specialising in just electrics. He does alot of work at the docks and stripping boat engines which is where im comfortable but hes trying to get me into the electrics side of...
anyone at all that can help, im just looking a helping hand in learning more about this. Im studying electrical/mechanical engineering and its all theory based and the guy im working with only has me in once or twice a week so its not enough to help me further myself.
no being serious thats why im on looking advice and help, I have a general idea of safety when working with electrics but its the actual wiring thats getting me.
Hi im after some books to tell me how to wire up houses factories etc. I know not all houses and businesses are the same layout but if I had a general idea of what im doing it will help greatly. The guy im working for is dead on but he tells me what he wants done and leaves for hours. I can...
